    At least the Clippers are a good dysfunctional team....and the Lakers weren't down by 30 before the 4th quarter.

    I had the same concerns, as well as the similar-player swap being a move from SF to PF, making match-ups even tougher. Olshey has this weird obsession with duplicating players (Dame/CJ, Aminu/Harkless, PhysEd/Plums, RoCo/DJJ), and creating roster imbalances where they almost have to be played together. Covington needs to be our starting SF, following up on what worked well with Ariza last year. Jones coming off the bench is good energy, even if it doesn't maximize our starting talent.

    Nice find, I stand corrected. Maybe because he broke league protocol? I’m sure if any player actually gets sick, they won’t be holding their check though right?

    In this article towards the end Adam Silver says, "I think we wouldn't be acting responsibly and I wouldn't be acting responsibly if I said it's full steam ahead no matter what." That's fucking laughable because they aren't acting responsible right now. With false negatives being a small but relevant reality... playing any contact sport let alone an indoor one with players of an age group and a propensity to be ultra healthy and therefore asymptomatic, that are very active in their communities, how could you be conducting yourself responsibly and not just look like you're looking out for your own financial viability at the potential cost of lives in the general public and older generation of NBA personnel?

    I'm glad that people like @THE HCP have work again but I think sports are a luxury to society that might be best sidelined until after populations achieve heard immunity through vaccination. It's really fucking stupid that sports have returned even some with live attendance while gig entertainment i.e. music concerts, plays and comedy (both stand up and improv groups) have been relegated to illegality. I am for safety first everywhere but I have a family member who is much more casual with his attitude towards this extremely deadly virus. While I think he's a fool for his attitude he has his right to it but made a very salient observation when pointing out how the government has been completely unconstitutional with the selective way in which they have chosen to shut down peoples rights in the interest of public health.

    That's totally right. If they can't prove like they did with Harden that the player has broken protocol that player gets paid completely while out for games due to quarantine. The protocol is just to mitigate. The league realizes that those protocols are the league's rules and are in no way going to stop spread even when followed perfectly.

    No, you were not wrong. I just heard Adam Silver on ESPN say that Harden was not missing a game check since the game was postponed.

    Yeah but the fact remains that if the league would have held Harden out of a game that was played or any player this season for verifiably breaking protocol, they are going to withhold that players game check just like they do for any suspension do to violation of league rules. That's my understanding anyway. I think that the league is giving Harden some superstar treatment clearing him for the game against us and therefore making sure they only fine him $50k.

    You rang? (it's 50k, not 50,000k, btw)

    It is sensible to compare lifetime salaries rather than annual salaries because ballplayers earn most of the money in a compressed time frame.
    The average American apparently makes $2.7 mil over their lifetime. If James Harden makes $500 mil over his lifetime (including endorsements), then
    x/50k = 2.7 mil/500 mil => $270

    However, this is overstating it because of disposable income. More realistic might be
    x/50k = .5 mil/495 mil => $50

    The average cost of a speeding ticket is $150.

    So, it's not nothing, it's VERY ROUGHLY a third of a speeding ticket.

    Watching the Heat play basketball is so enjoyable. Good execution, movement, solid defense, young and role players developed to be solid contributors....quite a basketball treat.
