The current team also doesn't mean championships. So do we just roll with this team or take a gamble in hopes we can win a championship with two superstars?

Not a gamble I'd bank on but I've already said that...I think the guy is locker room cancer and doesn't play well in the post season most years...paycheck superstar. I'd have a real hard time cheering for him but I'd get over it.

Harden and Nurk on a PnR could possibly be the best thing the NBA has ever seen, with Dame on the perimeter dropping long bombs.

Dame (+ Nurk) is the perfect guy to pair with Harden. He’s unselfish and will have no problem deferring. He’ll welcome playing more off the ball, he’s said it himself. And Harden can run an offense at least ten times better than CJ, so he could run the second unit as well. Also, teams will NOT trap with both those dudes on the floor.

I would do it. Like people have pointed out, we could flip Harden after he gets redemption and he’s scoring 30ppg.

But if we are on his list and he wants to be here long term I don’t know why we wouldn’t just keep him. As long as we don’t let him have his way. If the reports about him being late to film and Westbrook being disgusted with it, I can’t see dame being happy with that either.

The rockets were up 3-2 against a team with 4 hall of famers, with, imo, less than what we have right now on the roster.

his defense is better than CJ’s

I really really think that Houston won't go for anything less than CJ, Nurk and a pick or picks. I just don't see how CJ, Zach, Gary and whoever else adds up to as much as they've been offered by other teams... especially that Brooklyn offer. I do think CJ, Nurk and draft incentives might get the job done if we'd want to do that. We might have a bit of a hole at the 5 but Kanter can play there and then Zach can try to win that job from him when he's healthy. That said, Dame, Harden, DJJ, RoCo, Enes, Gary, Zach, Hoodie isn't as deep of a rotation as we have right now but it might get the job done a lot better.

No fucking way! Only way I’d support a Harden to PDX trade is if I owned a strip club. Poor strippers.

    Case in point:

Six straight years, the Lakers were awful and didn’t make very good picks or signing. They were garbage while we were competent. But who won the title first? The team that brought together 2 Top 8 stars. That’s what it takes. If we can get Harden, we do it. It’s not even a risk like Kawhi where they lost him after one year. Harden would be locked in and WANTS to play with Dame.

My impression is more that Harden wants to play with Kyrie and KD but would settle with playing with Dame...we're like choice number 4 in his bucket list so I don't think he's made us a priority.

that’s fine, as long as he’s good with playing in Portland. And he obviously is.

You shouldn't post political shit in here even if it's subtle and snarky. That being said the analogy is horrible because (here's my absolute hypocrisy) Harden is a fucking great basketball player and the other guy you referenced is probably the worst to ever do what he's currently doing. Is Harden the ideal fit for the culture this team has so carefully built? I'm not sure he is but this culture is strong and might even be able to change Harden. If that's the case we would likely have the best back court in the history of the league... for sure the best back court ever offensively. Then we would have the defense first forwards who I think can both hit open threes and one can slash really well. The question would be in the middle. We would likely have to give up Nurk so Kanter and Zach would have to be our centers. That said those guys aren't necessarily worse than Luke Longley and Bill Wennington.

I'm more interested in a championship than an MVP award but whatever floats your boat.

    Window dressing.
But id trade cj/Kanter and one of trent or collins with picks.

never gonna happen though. Simply political leverage. Nothing more. He will end up in a big market.
