    Moscow Mitch lost Senate majority, lost control of his caucus, and Merrick Garland is going to be Attorney General. I think I'll have a drink tonight.

    When people think of lynchings they usually think of Black people, especially Black men, which is true - but not exclusively. In 1915 in Georgia a Jewish man named Leo Frank was framed for the rape and murder of a 13 year old girl. Evidence showed another man was guilty, but the courtroom was so packed with people shouting "kill the Jew" that the jury could not hear testimony. Frank was convicted and sentenced to death. His sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment, whereupon an angry mob dragged him out and lynched him.

    The Anti-Defamation League was founded in response.

    Yesterday Georgia elected its first Jewish and first Black Senators.

    I've read speculation that Biden would appoint Garland as AG in order to open up his seat in the DC Court of Appeals for Ketanji Brown Jackson, who would basically be his next Supreme Court justice-in-waiting.
