Social media is not the problem. that's just the venue, or ...*medium*, to convey thoughts and messages. The underlying problem is education, lack of common sense, and misinformation. People are too fucking dumb these days to see what's real and what's not. It's what Tump and GOP have perfectly exploited over the past 10 yrs, beginning with the Birtherism bullshit. Seeing how positively morons reacted to that shit and the wall nonsense just made the party lean into even more. It's why CNN's fact checking during debates, or other news networks cutting out from live action to stop reporting obvious lies is important. Trump realized this was happening and started attacking the press even more explicitly.
