So basically what they have done to start the season. So they are no worse without Dame?

They were the hottest team in the bubble and added CP3. Not entirely a surprise.

I don't think so honestly. They started last year 6-3 so I'd say it's still early. They'll at least make the play-in though.

They are. Look at the talent on that team and they do have some depth. They are scrappy, big and can shoot lights out and any given night, if their shots are falling. Like many teams!

it would be a terrible look, IMO, if optimally healthy 20 year olds are cutting in line in front of 50-65 year olds just because they play basketball

I agree. I do wonder if the NBA could use its athletes to join in helping to promote to younger people the importance of getting vaccinated. In my view, that wouldn’t move them ahead of the people in the first or second phase of the vaccination program, but I’d be happy to see them get shots at the head of the general vaccination phase in exchange for some PR work getting people to get with the program and get vaccinated.

Not if they stay true to not jumping the line. The roll out is a cluster fuck. There are huge logistical issues with distribution. First responders are first on the list and most haven't even got their first dose yet. Most state officials want the first responders to have both the first dose and booster before they move onto assisted living homes, (those two first groups are only 2.8 million people and the government is having big problems getting them vaccinated).

Then some states want to go with people with high risk pre-existing conditions since they're most vulnerable but a lot of states are just going with all people over 65 and people hospitalized for preexisting conditions because those are easier to verify, this will be a laborious process and take months (many more months than initial estimates of up to 3) because the number of baby boomers over 65 is so huge at over 49 million, then the general population above 14 which will be when the NBA and other rich people who said they wouldn't jump the line, will jump the line, without jumping the line by purchasing their vaccines privately while other people wait in a huge line in the actual general public in that age group which is like 233 million people.

So seriously the NBA is facing the real possibility of playing the vast majority if not the entire regular season without vaccinated players. Also their desire to have full capacity fans for the playoffs has been dashed. It might not be realistic to have enough fans in doors this season and playoffs to even make it worth the NBA opening the doors with all of the employees that takes.

I guess we'll see on that but it's going to be a long time before any of us get to see NBA games unless the government goes with some sort of verification that you've had the vaccine like id cards or microchip implants that can track your every move and hear everything you say or something like that. Then some of you older guys might be very envied by us under 65.

I think they are. Good coach on the bench Good coach on the field and all around player in Paul. Great scorer in Booker. Double double machine in Ayton who shoots 58% . Mikal Bridges looks as if he is breaking out, shooting 46% on threes. A ton of good role players in Crowder, Saric, Cam Johnson (.392 career from 3), Kaminsky. I won't be surprised if they finish ahead of us.

I would be glad to give up my place! It's important to the mental health of the nation to be able to watch basketball! (of course I have positive antibodies. :) )

yeah, that's kind of my sentiment...I like the Blazer season a lot every year

but my wife is significantly immune-compromized so I'm really worried about getting Covid and giving it to her. In fact, even assuming I survived Covid in good shape I'd feel terrible if I gave it to somebody else, and most of the friends and family I see are older

I don't think the argument is that he can't play, I think the idea is that he is shortening his career.

Shaq suffered an early end to his career, and his effectiveness at the end suffered as well. Shaq didn't come into the league overweight like Zion.
