Nothing would/should cause him to revert back, in terms of approach. His stats could revert back if the statistical improvement is (mostly, not necessarily entirely) due to simply playing out of his mind, rather than his changed approach.
Aminu did that in has last year as a Blazer. His TS% jumped from a career 0.518 to a respectable 0.568. One might think he just got super hot. But he didn’t. In fact he shot 34% from three vs 37% the prior year. So how did his TS% go up so much? Well he did improve his FT’s to 87%. That was part of it. But the other thing he did was a simple decision. He passed up some 3’s and took it to the hole more. A lot more. He shot 1.63x more shots from 0-3 feet than before, where he is efficient and he got fouled more to boot. That’s all he did. So it is possible to make a big jump by decision if you were previously making bad decisions. CJ has obviously been hot from 3 on top of that.
CJ is currently playing awesome, I agree. That's not a statement about the past or the future. His trade value should be at it's highest, but he is still unlikely to be traded.
CJ is 3rd in the NBA in scoring right now on 47/44/88 shooting. And the two people ahead of him are just there because of one 60+ game. CJ's consistent. Forget All Star. CJ is All NBA this season.
CJ skills were always undeniable. If he really took his shooting to next level, he is going to be a nightmare for other teams. We may be on GS path with Curry and Klay and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that Kerr that changed their game with more ball movement? It's obvious Blazers look much better when they passing more. I still think new coach could be magic pill for us.
CJ’s passing has got to make it easier for him to score too. I mean how much harder is it to defend when you have to worry about the pass as well.
But you notice he not really guarding guards this year he been the opponent small forward on defense. So not trying run around chasing the 2 guard might have something to do with it. This means he not losing his legs on offense. Just a thought but all I know he very confident in his shot this year.
I think it’s a result of Stotts putting DJ Jr. on whoever the opponent’s biggest backcourt or wing offensive threat is.
I think we finally get two all stars this year and CJ gets the call. Shame there's no game this year.
Yep. And Mychal Thompson is only 80 points ahead of CJ for that 9th spot. That's a pretty impressive list of names there.
Not quite. Take out his 60 point game and Beal is still averaging 32. His lowest total so far this season is 27. Don't know if it lasts, but he's legit at the top of the board.
I’d like an answer to this question. There was no 1999 All Star game. Does anyone remember if there were selections?
There were not. Go to the bbref page for that season, and unlike other seasons, there are no all star selections listed.
