    Trailing 6-4 heading into the ninth, the Cardinals started thewinning rally as Chris Duncan doubled off Cordero with one out.Albert Pujols singled to center field, scoring Duncan.

    After Juan Encarnacion reached on a fielder's choice, ScottRolen plated him with a double to deep left to knot the score.

    Ryan Ludwick then grounded a single just past a diving CraigCounsell at second base to score Rolen with the game-winningrun.


    Cordero (0-4) took the loss after blowing his fourth game of theseason, and second in three days.


    Prior to this series, Cordero converted 10 of his previous 11save opportunities.


    Russ Springer (5-1) earned the win for St. Louis, pitching ascoreless ninth inning, walking one and striking out one.

    Milwaukee's rookie sensation Ryan Braun had three hits,<div class="pre">including his 18th homer, and drove in three runs as the</div>Brewers seemed to have the game in hand.

    With two out in the first inning, Braun launched the first pitchhe saw from St. Louis starter Brad Thompson 410 feet into theBrewers' bullpen to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.


    After Counsell's run-scoring double with two outs in the secondput runners on second and third, Braun struck again, lifting asoft liner to center to increase the Brewers' advantage to 4-0.

    Parra made it a day of firsts in the third inning when heconnected off Thompson for his first major league hit, a two-rundouble off the wall in right to make it 6-0.


    Thompson was forced to leave with an apparent injury to his handafter walking the first two batters in the fourth. Always oneout away from escaping trouble, the righthander yielded six runs- four earned - and seven hits and four walks in three-plusinnings.


    Encarnacion had three hits and three RBI to improve on his hothitting in July. He is now batting .375 for the month with 17RBI.
