    Elon Musk on the Difference Between Big Tech Banning Hate Speech and Hated Speech

    Musk tweeted: "A lot of people are going to be super unhappy with West Coast high tech as the de facto arbiter of free speech." He also replied to a tweet posted by Tesla fan account @RationalEtienne reading: "West Coast high tech has to make the distinction between banning hate speech and banning speech it hates." Elon Musk responded: "This is an important distinction."

    it's fucking hilarious how conservatives and the right wing are so damn upset about Corporations making decisions that the law allows them to make.

    for decades it's been the same people saying businesses have a right to self determination. That no-shoes-no-service is the over-arching credo of business in a free society.

    the hypocritical assholes whining about twitter and parler were the same ones cheering when trump stooges at the FCC gutted fairness regulations while paving the way for communications monopolies in a laissez-faire internet

    but it's no surprise. The same fucking assholes who voted to throw out the legal votes from two different states turned around and within hours were calling for unity. Hypocrisy is how they roll. Fuck these yahoos

    the ironic thing is that lots of people like me on the left have been warning about the power of big tech for a long time. It's only when it's not a giant safe zone anymore for the lies of the right that they get worried

    Some good points, but to be fair this goes both ways. It could be called hypocrisy that leftists are willing to morph into free market-loving Ron Paul Libertarians when it results in their political adversaries being silenced at the hands of monopolistic corporations.
