It’s fun to act like the next 5 games are playoff games but they’re not playoff games. Lots of basketball and possible roster moves to deal before the actual playoffs. Stay calm.
In what context is that being asked? I never root for the Blazers to lose....but there may be a time that in the long run, it would be beneficial. Dame is a star, but regardless of reasons, that hasn't translated into being anything close to a contender. He he now entering the wrong side of 30. At some point there will have to be a reset. Sadly, so far, that would be a reset from extreme mediocrity. We all want more for Dame and the Blazers, but for the past 8 years, it has been mostly middle of the road with a couple of blips upward, with far too many instances of sweeps. If the opportunity existed to where they would have a decent shot at someone like Cade Cunningham, I would absolutely take it. I wouldn't root for losses, but it might be the best way to get the next impact player to try and help your team move forward. Sadly, this team has been stuck in mostly neutral for far too long. Just good enough to make the Playoffs, not bad enough to get a good Draft pick, and not nearly good enough to be a contender. #pergatory
Well have said this before and I will say now it doesn't matter who you bring in as fowards they will not get the opportunity to shoot much as long CJ and Dame continue to search for there shots. Now we know Nurk is struggling but he not getting opportunity to score either like in the past. In the bubble the surprise they did look at Melo. But right now Dame and CJ working extra hard to search for there shots. Defensely I think both unit are bad there a lot of reason why there bad because right now nothing is working new or old. Everyone thought ROCO or Jones was the answer but you got to remember they come from teams that has good team defense not individual defense. These guys can talk about practicing defense or your two stars can say they going out and put more effort at the end but if doesn't translate in the games then it's just talk.
I'll take the under on 5-0 for sure. I'd do that with any NBA teams over a 5 game stretch. Overall improvement is all I'm looking for.
Exactly. Win or lose in this game, they played poorly and were outworked by an undermanned Bulls roster.
Just hasn't looked good on the improvement part considering we don't look any better in game 7 than we did in game 1.
4-1........... Ok.... 5-0 should have been that loss to bulls still sucks. But we trending in right direction
Go Blazers! This is not purgatory being a Blazer fan...try it...you'll see all the doom and gloom is in your own head....making the westen conf finals is not purgatory....beating the champs in their gym is not purgatory....is it really that hard to find enjoyment in the team? For me, this is a fun season.....and sure...Rodney is not good yet, we are making mistakes early in some games...but we're 7-4 after playing teams that are considered contenders....I still say 20 games in you can start to critique the team with some backstory to work with but at this point....my view is whining about the same things for almost a decade is an unhealthy addiction. Try and enjoy the team...it's worth it! Terry Stotts influenced the modern game..he championed the 3 pt shot..it hasn't passed him by any stretch. We're lucky to have him and he deserves our support. Find some joy in the sport folks...it's what it's intended for.
I'm enjoying this team and this season, but I can't agree on the Terry Stotts part. We would have more chances of winning it all (which is the ultimate goal) with a different coach.
I don't believe that for a second...Kerr isn't leading the Warriors to a ring this year, nor D'Antoni nor probably Spoelstra or Popovich.....everything has to click to win a championship...the coach isn't making the Lakers do that...their roster is. We beat the Lakers already once...does Stotts get blamed for that too? I think he's a great coach ...just not a volatile coach
We've seen the same thing for years. dubious rotations, offensive and defensive schemes. Talent alone might take us to the WCF, hell, talent might even win us a chip eventually but a better coach would make it easier
You've also seen phenomenal comebacks...record breaking performances and us make the WCF with one center playing with one arm....and Mario Hezonja in the rotation...that's coaching...how many coaches would get that roster to the WCF? If we criticize the coach...we also need to cheer for his successes...they go hand in hand. I've seen a lot of different teams with mixed results under Stotts but one thing is consistent...his players are loyal to him...and high strung emotionally fueled fans seem to hate him...they want to be here playing for him.....my take...there are coaches that invite vitriol...Stotts is not one of them to me
That's Dame (and CJ against Denver). I haven't seen a single thing in the playoffs over the years making me think "nice one Stotts", but I have seen many things making me pull my hairs off. I'm not basing my dislike for Stotts over results, I'm basing it on what I'm actually seeing during the games. I think this years team is good, but being good doesn't mean you can't be better.
