http://www.ajc.com/falcons/content/sports/...nvick_0727.html
I can't get a direct link to Deion Sanders defense of Michael Vick, but if you go to the page that I've linked to above, there is a link to Sander's column at the end of the article.
According to Sanders, how Vick's behavior is seen is just a matter of perspective. People view dogs differently. What a pile of crap!It doesn't matter what Michael Vick thinks about dogfighting. It's illegal and he knows that. That's why they keep their activities underground.
Was he wrong? Absolutely. Was he stupid? Can't argue with that. Was he immature? No doubt. But is he the ringleader? I just can't see it.
Sanders can't see it because he doesn't want to see it. Actually, I think Sanders does see it, but I don't believe he values integrity, so he doesn't mind lying (like adog?) to defend Vick. What makes this statement so stupidare the words the he utters in support of his position.
I believe Vick had a passion for dogfighting. I know many athletes who share his passion. The allure is the intensity and the challenge of a dog fighting to the death. It's like ultimate fighting, but the dog doesn't tap out when he knows he can't win.
If Michael Vick has such a passion for dogfighting, then why wouldn't he be the ringleader? Out of all the guys in this group, who has the means to finance this operation? Michael Vick. Do you think that Michael Vick just walks arounddumbfounded and these guys, who don't have means or money, tell him what to do and how to spend his money? I really doubt that. I would think that Vick's money and fame makes him the leader of this pack.
Then, Sanders deflects by bringup up the murder of Darrant Williams and the robbery of Antoine Walker as the things that we should be spending our energy on. I will agree with Sanders that humans are more important than animals, but just because there are other crimes being committed in our society that doesn't give Vick a free pass to murder dogs and subject them to the horror of dogfighting. Sanders should be ashamed for using Williams murder in an effort to exhonorate Vick. That's pretty vile and disgusting, Neon.
The reason this is turning into a three-ring circus is that baseball is boring, basketball is months away, football is around the corner and we in the media don't have a thing interesting to write about.
Statements this stupid probably should be dignified with a response, but the truth is that we are talking about this because most people believe that dogs don't deserve to be treated in such a inhumane manner. We are talking about this because the style of execution described in the indictment is so inhumane that it is almost unbelievable. Deflect all you want, Neon, but 60 some dogs, recovered from Michael Vick's property, will be put down because they are unadoptable. According to the Feds, eight dogs were brutally murdered in a manner that breaks the animal cruelty laws of our nation.
The biggest truth that this article reveals is the Deion Sanders is the type of individual that will turn his head when one of his buddies breaks the law. Yet, he calls himself a Christian. Gimmie a break.
