several years ago the Pac-10was really quite close to expanding to a Pac-16. The 6 teams that would have been added were, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M. The hangup (excuse) the pac-12 saw was Texas insisting they keep control of their Longhorn Network the thought was there would be two divisions: Pacific that would have all the original Pac-8 teams and the Mountain that would have the other schools one rumor was that Larry Scott's hardball tactics torpedoed the expansion, although it was never absolutely certain that Texas was on board College sports would sure look a lot different if that would have happened
Good riddance, that guy had no eye for the future and spent too much time focused on himself. Guy made more money than the other commish and didn't nothing to really grow the conference or put a competitive product on the field (in the sports that make the $$$ go around, football/basketball). buh-bye.
