PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays gavethe Boston Red Sox a scare yesterday, but in the end the resultwas quite familiar. The Devil Rays will look to avoid their ninth straight loss onSunday when the host the Red Sox in the finale of a three-gameseries. Tampa Bay is just 5-25 in its last 30 contests after dropping a12-6, 12-inning decision on Saturday. Boston got to a bullpenthat came into the game with an ERA of 6.63 for six runs in thetop of the 12th. Scott Kazmir (7-7, 4.02 ERA) will attempt to snap the losingstreak on Sunday. The 23-year-old lefthander has always hadsuccess against the Red Sox, owning a 5-3 career mark with a2.76 ERA in 12 starts. The Red Sox will counter with Japanese import Daisuke Matsuzaka(12-7, 3.79). The 26-year-old righthander is coming off a winover the Cleveland Indians last Tuesday in which he allowed justfour hits over seven scoreless innings. Matsuzaka earned a win over Kazmir and the Devil Rays on July 3,tossing eight scoreless innings in a 4-1 victory. The Red Sox's win on Saturday pushed their lead in the AmericanLeague East to nine games over the New York Yankees (55-49).
