“They’re using positions in the house, people who already work there to do things we normally do.” Pretty standard during a recession no?
Yep. There's no live events occurring... so they might be out of luck. There's not enough information here to make an informed judgement if Blazers did anything wrong here. This little bit of propaganda 'news story' did not provide any evidence of wrongdoing.
I don’t know anything about this, but the TV crew is IATSE and the Blazers are sticking to the contract.
Where’s the picket line? A unionized contract company isn’t the same as unionized workers on the company payroll. Some union jobs like the TV crew are more needed than other union jobs like shining lights when there is no crowd. Sounds like the light guys signed a bad union contract with Vulcan to me. I feel bad for them but that’s not really a career.
A stagehand says that the Blazers are saving a tiny amount of money, by paying a little less per hour, for a few part-time jobs.
After an exciting game event, the fake crowd sound should increase, but it doesn't vary realistically. Olshey's wife must be the one with her finger on the knob. In the 12th grade she memorized her lefts and rights, but didn't get to her clockwises and counterclockwises.
You probably don't know about this because it was filed against Rip City Management not Blazer Broadcasting. Who is running the theatrical portions of the production in the arena? Do you know who runs it usually? Are they the same people or are they simply not needed without the same production? Are they cutting down on the number of people allowed to enter due to Covid restrictions? Looking at what they filed the docket cannot be viewed so this probably will settle and will never see court. Filed in December so this has a long way to go.
Are those really the workers you want back when things return to normal? Sure, protesting anything and everything is the new Portland way, but that's generally left for the unemployable lot.
You're right. We want only union members who accept layoffs and never strike or demonstrate. A union should be a social center, with a bar and no complaints.
Yes, that's what I was thinking of. I was solicited to join one of those when I lived in California. Can't remember which. The guy practically begged me for a long time. Of course, they're starved for anyone white to join. The halls are empty and I could have been the king of their lonely bar.
