Administration is a huge reason. Sure, what you said sounds great. Get checks to only those without jobs. How? Have people sign up if they lost a job? That went horribly in state unemployment offices. Also, someone who lost their job could have a million dollars in the bank. The Feds have IRS tax information they can use to get money into peoples accounts the fastest. If that means some people still have jobs then so be it. The income thresholds imo are a tad high for most areas, but in Cali, 150,000 for a family is still chump change.
ya, i totally understand the logistical issues and the income/cost of living disparity. I'm actually considering moving to the bay area and was caught with a shock when i read that 300k is considered middle class for a family of four. But i was more referring to the big picture. I think we are well past the stage of "fastest," and also past the stage of putting a bandaid on a gunshot wound (which is what the stimulus is). Since we're already delayed, let's do it right and actually place more emphasis on people/situations that need help, rather than a blanket solution for everything.
Since the IRS has that advantage, the Feds should be sure former politicians don't get any of it. Those people squirreled their way into nice "after office" circumstances. IMO
I, for one, am against the closure of this project. Biden should not had done this! Biden's Keystone XL pipeline cancellation is gut punch to small businesses (msn.com)
People that really need the money need it now. I think we still are at the fastest stage. $600 wasn't enough.
Anyone angry about the 2k stimulus check should point that anger at the GOP for whittling it down to 600 bucks the first time and balking on the package for 1400 as soon as it hit the table....Joe is undertaking a lot of damage control right now...I'm actually impressed with how fast he's moving on a variety of issues....mostly dealing with climate and covid....Trump left a goddamned mess and virtually no transition assistance in a pandemic.....support Joe...he's doing what he can do right now and it's more than we've seen in 4 years....he's extended unemployment benefits already which has helped my wife out and my daughter in law...both unable to return to their fields of work ..I'm grateful for what help they've recieved...they'll pass a stimulus...the GOP needs to stop partisan posturing and fix it's own warts
He doesn't deserve to be lumped in with dogs. Dogs, as every little boy knows, are absolutely delightful companions.
Actually, once Joe took the oath it’s like pressure has been released from a severely shaken bottle. It’s so nice to get up in the morning without a knot in my gut, wondering what hate and discontent the Moron In Chief stirred up overnight. It is so good to have maturity, professionalism and empathy in the White House again. Joe can drool down the front of his suit and call his wife “Melania” for all I care. Even in that state he would still be head and shoulders above the con artist buffoon who squatted in the Oval Office the previous 4 years.......it is so nice to see some sunshine starting to peek through the darkness that overtook us in 2016......
I am. Joe is boring, and not because trump called him "sleepy joe". He's boring because he doesn't try anything new or ruffle feathers. He's a "safe" president.
Joe might seem boring but that's just folks shock at being governed by a team of professionals and not streams of lies on twitter.....I'd say it's a pretty stark contrast. Everyone working for Joe seems relaxed and we aren't getting the uptight press conferences because lies aren't being masked over
