People will do whatever they can to game the system. If someone wouldn't have a chance in hell of getting a scholarship as a male but suddenly can identify and win championships as a woman, why wouldn't they?
So why have male and female sports at all? Why not just have skill based match making like video games. If you play a ranked video game like Overwatch, it doesn't care if you're a boy or girl. It doesn't care if you are trans, gay, straight, whatever. It cares about your skill rating. So have a skill based athletics and be done with it. No more male and female. Of course..... the women's rights activists wouldn't be too happy about that
Or you can let people self identify, because I imagine the cases you're so concerned about would number in the teens. And then who gives a shit. someone earlier mentioned how there was a similar argument with black athletes. Think of all the poor white baseball players that couldn't be professionals because we had to go and let blacks in. It was a slippery slope!!
