the games without Nurkic and CJ are getting fewer and fewer, next month the first half of the season will be over, hopefully they will be back at the beginning of the second half of the season.

Right, and games like tonight are absolutely crucial. We won one unexpectedly last night, now we gotta get the ones we're supposed to win. It's a lot like the NY game last week.It gives us more chances to rest Dame if needed later on if we have this one in the books

So Kanter is better than Whiteside?

I'm happy Delavadova is out, he's a player. They're very strong up front (Drummond, Allen and Mcgee) but their other players are unknowns. Doesn't mean they can't heat up. This is supposed to be ours but I think it'll be a challenge.

If we can handle them on the boards especially the defense end we should win this game.

Bucks coach Budenholzer got rid of Delavadova because Connaughton is better. Jarrett Allen learned a lot in his 2nd year from Ed Davis. Olshey dumping Davis has hurt us for 3 seasons.

Yeah one is a very good shot blocker and one is a very good offensive rebounder. Both set a decent screen and finish around the basket well. Neither can put the ball on the floor without it being slapped away, nor guard a center on the perimeter. So a lot of similarities but for some reason, Kanter seems to be a better fit. He just seems to "work harder". Of course, Whiteside could dunk while standing on his tippy toes, so maybe he never thought he had to give much effort.

Yeah, the thing about these young teams is that they have nothing to lose and always seem to bring the energy. And if Portland doesn't bring it....they can get blown out by anyone. With these empty arenas, teams need to bring their own energy.....all game long

whiteside does not set a "decent screen." he barely makes contact and plods his way to the hoop at a glacial pace. And his shot blocking is over rated while not impacting the defense

Young teams and with a mix of players that have given the Blazers fits in the past. Delladova, McGee, Prince and Andre Drummond.

    This for sure.

You can't look past this team for any reason. This is a game they can and should get but we all know how this works in the NBA.

Remember. They have been here for a day and probably watched TNT last night.

    Go Blazers!

I didn't say he was decent at the pick n roll, just that he set a decent screen. Maybe because he never rolled was the reason he did not pick up as many moving picks as others.

His shot-blocking was not overrated. I know Dame struggled to attack the rim when Hassan played for Miami. Having said that I agree that his overall D was a bit overrated despite being named defensive player of the year in China in 2013. (I guess all NBA defensive 2nd team is worth a shout out too)

Seriously though I agree that he went after too many blocks leaving his man open under the basket. You rarely see Kanter doing that.
