Hmmmm... Looking at the box score it really is hard to fathom how we won.

Amen... combine that with all the non-box score factors and it's even more amazing.

Compile as many weird wins as you can because there are some bumps in the road ahead.

I mean, Stotts got this playstation type of rotations. When you play on Playstation you play your s5 to the ground to win a game with your friend.

Sometimes someone is injured, so you have to put Nas in. If he plays good, you are happy (for one game).
For the next game you try to put your best lineup and if other guys are clear you just forgetting Nas.
You play Melo, bc if he surpass top 10 this season you will unlock a special reward.

I don't know if Stotts is 16 or maybe I'm:) If we'he lost against Pels tonite would it be Stotts fault? IDK. But I'm pretty sure that Dame won this game, not Stotts. And am OK with it, bc Lillard carry this team since Marsha left. Not Stotts. Stotts just trying to do his job - punish young players for good performances.

    The reason is Dame.

I don’t play that way. I know I can come back from 10 down in the last 3 minutes if my guys are fresh. It happens often.

This narrative continues to get pushed, but there isn't much to back it up.

In the last say 6-7 seasons, can you list all the great young players Stotts has punished, and once they were released to play for a different coach they blossomed into this amazing player?

Skal, Mario, Layman, Gabriel, Swanigan, Baldwin, Stauskas, Vonleh, Meyers, Connaughton (maybe? 6ppg), Napier, Crabbe, Quarterman, Montero, Alexander, Thomas Robinson, Alonzo Gee. These are all guys who got some message board love.

Who am I missing? Will Barton is by far the best example and he was on a team with Dame, Wes, Batum, and CJ.

Actually I find the Hood contract one of Neil's smartest moves. He paid a guy who had come through for the team, even though he didn't know if he could again but he didn't lock us into a second year but if Hoodie does at some point produce like he was right before his injury, then ten million next season is a great deal. So he earns points with agents and players for showing loyalty but it isn't the kind of team defeating loyalism that we often see from Olshey.

Edit: I replied to this before I saw the point had been made by someone less long winded as I continued through the thread.

No. He's overpaid. He's extremely inconsistent (which is to be expected after his injury but that doesn't change the fact that he's inconsistent). He's not a part of the future of the team. I would rather give the minutes to Nas, who has shown he can contribute as well as play defense.

I get that take for sure. If the play is for the future, then signing Hood and Melo really make little to no sense. I'm not thinking about 3-4 years from now because of where Dame is at in his career, but I get the logic for sure.

I know it's a small sample size, but holy shit it's not even close.

Agreed on the small sample size. If anything, these stats show how bad Hood has been on offense, not how good Nas is. Surprised to see Hood and Nas with the same defensive rating.

Hood has been a good one in every 3-4 games type player for many seasons. Like the guy, teammates love the guy, but like the rest of our forwards, I'd like to do better; someone elite, not just average.

In my opinion it shows two things:

    1) Rodney is really really bad. He might come back but right now I'm not confident.

    2) Nas has earned more minutes. It's a small sample size but come the fuck on Terry.... the dude deserves some burn. He has played EXTREMELY well in the minutes you have given him.

Yes, yo rite. Also CJ wouldn't go out if Wes was healthy and Rodney wouldn't won us OT against Denver if not Harks leg.

I'm not ready to say a guy with .146 win/share and 0.1 VORP has played EXTREMELY well, though I will not try to bash Nas, as he has improved.

I’ve never understood when it comes to basketball why people say “inconsistent” when I think they mean “bad”. Everyone is inconsistent in basketball. One day they go 6 for 16 and another day 10 for 16 No one goes 8 for 16 all the time. Hood is just plain bad.

I think it's safe to say some people have a greater variance in their games than others. That would make them more inconsistent than an average player, wouldn't it?

That SVG interview is great. 'What could you have done better against Lillard?' I dunno, it's not like anyone else is doing any better.

Unless we win. Tell him to guard the Gatorade and keep quiet.
