There are also people, like myself, who enjoy Portland but would rather live outside of the city, away from people. Not like on a 70 acre compound where you live in a bunker, but where your neighbors house isn't 3 feet from your house, and you therefore have zero privacy.

    I hate that.

Doesn't mean I hate the city of Portland (or any major city).

Exactly my point. I mean, I live in an area that many friends come to visit and they say it feels like inner-SE/NE neighborhoods. 80-110-year old homes, short blocks from a thriving and historic retail and restaurant-filled Main Street. It’s a slower, quieter pace of life. I found the things I love about Portland in a smaller and different community (while leaving behind the things I don’t enjoy about Portland).

I lost power twice (for a total of 30 minutes). Drove by Beverly Cleary (she was born out here in Mac, by the way) and Grant HS yesterday around the time you posted pics. We were taking our niece home and running a few errands in the area. Lotta fucking trees down. Lotta snow still. Did you lose power at your house?

Ya, lost it for a few hours twice. We had TONS of old trees down in the neighborhood. Still have a few street blocked around us. Really surprised they already haven't taken care of them. I remember Beverly Cleary used to come to our school when I was a kid and read her books to us. Totally remember that. Next time you are over here there is a cool Beverly Cleary wading pool/fountain for kids to play in, with statues of her characters. Check it out, but only if you feel safe doing so. HA!

And yes, still some snow over here. Finally able to pull up our driveway today. We got a little over a foot here!

you do know you can shovel snow, right?

I was out at the FM off of Glisan and 223rd, and there were MOUNTAINS of snow in the parking lot. Granted, that's because they plowed the parking lot, but it was crazy just how much snow was out there compared to other parts (due to the proximity to the gorge of course).

HCP only knows how to operate lawn mowers, weed whack era, and garden shears/clippers.

He hasn’t learned “the shovel” yet.

Went here years ago. I don’t even think my second was born yet, which would mean it was nearly a decade ago. Nice spot.

The fact is, Portland and Oregon, in general, can’t keep up with what my lifestyle needs are, so I’m planning to take my talents elsewhere (for 3 or 4 months of the year).

Are you sure your grandfather didn't say "go mow my lawn, kid. I'm smart by making you work hard"
