really??...different opinions than yours are insulting??....fragile world that good-ship-lollypop blazer experience of yours. In the 9 years of the Olshey/Stotts regime, Portland has averaged 45.5 wins and has a .357 winning percentage in those 7 playoffs you're so proud of. That's 11 playoff series, and in the 7 series that Portland didn't win, the 7 series when the Blazers exited the playoffs, their record was 4-28, which is a .142 winning percentage when they actually faced a real contender...and one of those wins was when the Warriors didn't have Curry. That fits my definition of a treadmill

and LMAO that you'd actually try to use Popovich to defend Stotts. Let me know when Stotts wins 5 NBA championships. And in terms of playoff wins past the 2nd round, the score is Pop 51, Stotts 0

and where was it I said they were "boring"?

fake news.....moneyball ignores the all important intangibles that help win games....we win and lose as a team...respect pass it on! Anyone can see Dame has help. Watch his last post game interview...see how he feels about Melo's role....intangibles....being vocal...without Melo and Roco we don't win the last two and Enes has given us second shots on misses...yeah...intangibles....screens....deflections....pressure...putting the opposition in foul trouble.....intangibles. If moneyball is your thing...great, but it doesn't mean buzzkill for those who enjoy the team now...I'm a fan of the team as constructed.....#realnews...see the standings in the west and our seed right now and tell me we're mediocre....we're not. Amazing considering the 8th starting lineup has only started 12 games together...good coaching...roster improvement...that's this season....now we need health.

I notice you’re mostly negative and it seems toxic. What are you getting out of being a literal fanatic who seems miserable following the team with over 72,000 posts here, and there are likely other sites not counted in your posts here.

Reading your posts is a huge downer. I don’t get it. It’s not an insult, it’s just so weird to me unless you’re a sports masochist who likes to feel bad about things.

    Question:
What do you call it when Stotts plays bench players who shouldn't be playing?

    Answer:
Going HAM (Hood, Ant, Melo), the unholy trinity.

and I say that as a big Ant fan. However, I am not a fan of him playing out of position!

No but they have a code that I use as a drum machine.....it's a way to give "tone" to a typed sentence and allow it to breathe like a bottle of good wine. What you won't see me type is "lol"

I don't believe the Dame/CJ pairing is the reason why our defense is bad. CJ's been out in place of Gary Trent Jr. and our defense has been no better overall. We've also had a very easy schedule with C.J. out. There's been a lot of improvements on rotations and scramble situations overall. Also, not pairing Melo with Kanter might be a benefit.

A good defensive frontcourt, a good defensive coach who runs the proper schemes at the proper times and teaches his players how to execute them properly, and (maybe) better defensive players off the bench and I think we could easily have a top 10 defense. Bring in a coach who doesn't make Dame and C.J. work so hard for their shots and they may have more energy for defense. That coach should be able to hold them a little bit more accountable for what they do on that end of the floor as well.

Better than horrible = good enough? That's fine if that's how you view it. That's not how I view it. I want this team to do great things, and I will hold them to such a standard, just as they should themselves.

But saying we have one all-star player is just as misleading in terms of gauging talent, considering we have two players that are all-star caliber talents, and three if Nurkic is able to bounce back to peak form.

My point is simply this: People only give the all-star voting process legitimacy when it helps their argument that this roster isn't good (or good enough). There's a reason I don't base my opinions of this roster off of a popularity contest.

With Damian Lillard it is like you have this magic wand and you use it as a whip on your goat.

Just give it to someone that can use it.

No it's not. This team has one all star.
No we don't. At least to this point in their career.
Not really when the part of the voting process that we were discussing was the players voting.

Now lets clear something up though. I happen to agree with you wholeheartedly that this roster could get much better. I also want very badly to see them get healthy this year and watch exactly how far they can go. I also agree that if in fact this roster goes deep into the playoffs and then starts winning while staying healthy and becomes a true contender CJ and Nurk would get more All Star consideration but i still doubt they would actually make the all star team. Maybe CJ? It would take winning the Championship and some absolute headline numbers for Nurk to make the team.
This year Phoenix is a true contender. The Jazz are contenders. They both have two players on the All Star team.

CJ is 10 on western all stars voting this year. Just under Klay and Caruso. Now, I don't know if Klay sits on the bench somehow better than CJ and as much as I love Caruso's dunks, I don't really think he is better than CJ. He is actually, imo, not even on the horizont to be seen.

Funny thing is, if you use all star voting, not only Caruso is better than CJ, but Carmelo is much better then both of them.

The conversation wasn't about "All Star Voting"
It's about the portion of the All Star voting that was done by players. Much different animal there.

CJ got 11 total player votes. He was 14th overall in player voting.
CJ was 9th on western conference guards. Fan rank he was 10th. Media he got zero votes.
