Realistically, this is how I’d rank the teams, I’ll go with Woj’ list for now 1. Miami 2. Brooklyn 3. Portland 4. Golden State Neil would have to have a real good relationship with him. Does Dame know him? I know Blake likes Melo and CJ tho
Shams is saying everyone thinks he’s going to the Nets. Makes sense. Good for them. Maybe one day we’ll get nice things too.
Not the right guy to bring in. We’d be better off with a true point guard to give Dame a few minutes rest. One that is a threat to shoot/score as well as run the show. Simons is not a PG. A back-up 4 would be helpful but only need is that of a banger / defensive vet. We don’t need someone coming in that will demand to start - this will only mess with our chemistry and sour RoCo and/or DJJ. We could trade Simons for one of these puzzle-pieces and while I like Hood, if we can bring in a vet forward, Hood and Simons can go. This is the safe approach and comes with the hope that Nurkic and CJ can return and be integrated into the team. And I am totally against giving starting either - and egos aside, a second unit of CJ, Simons (our vet PG), Hood, Melo and Nurk would make us scary.
Seems to me, if we signed Giffin, he would be taking some of Melo's minutes. The amount of slightly below average to slightly above average players we've got is already crazy high. If we ever get fully healthy (big if), there are going to be 3-4 decent players with will be getting DNPs. Playing 12 people every night is a horrible idea. Therefore, if we're going to sign Blake, we better be doing a 3 for 1 trade somewhere else.
I don’t want another aging star who thinks he’s better than he is and gets minutes over more deserving players because our staff thinks they’ve earned it somehow
Trade: Atlanta sends us John Collins PF and Rondo PG Portland sends Simons and Hood and enticing draft pick ATL is a mess right now and this move helps with our win-now mode
lolol yeah, let’s see if we can actually land someone that is in demand or doesn’t have Bartlestein as an agent. I’m sure there will be more buyout guys that could help.
I don't understand the appeal in Brooklyn. They desperately need size and rim protection. They have enough offense. I mean, I get it for him-- he gets to be in NY and in the limelight again with three stars, but not sure I see why they would go after him. Blake isn't helping them stop Embiid in the playoffs.
