DeSantis' great Covid management not so great. Under investigation for directing vaccines from essential workers to wealthy white communities where Republican donors live. He has raised a ton of money, essentially trading vaccines for campaign contributions.

DeSantis denies any direct involvement. Of course, we shall see how this all plays out:

    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article249690363.html

DeSantis denied having any involvement with the vaccine distribution at the Medical Center at Ocean Reef and said the vaccinations were handled by a “South Florida hospital,” which later was identified as Baptist Health System.

“That was not a site that we were involved in in the Keys,’’ DeSantis said at a news conference Thursday in Crystal River.

Monroe County officials later told the Herald/Times that the vaccine distribution to the wealthy community was coordinated by the state and the hospital system and did not involve the county public health department.

“Ocean Reef Medical Center received the vaccines as part of the Governor’s program to vaccinate communities with a population of 65-plus with a homeowner’s association and onsite medical center with the ability to administer the vaccines,” Kristen Livengood, Monroe County spokesperson, said in an email Thursday.

Farmer, a Lighthouse Point Democrat, told reporters in Tallahasseethat if the governor had no role and the wealthy community received no special treatment, “then the governor should not fear an investigation at all. Let’s get that out in the open.”

And Trump never met Manafort or any of the women who accused him of sexual assault....

My guess is that DeSantis will be very forthcoming. Again, as I previously stated, we shall see.

Seems ironic that the only place you ever hear about QAnon is from left wing outlets trying to tell us how scary all the right wingers are with their crazy conspiracy. I live somewhere completely surrounded by conservatives and have literally never heard a single person so much as mention QAnon. I don’t think anyone even knows what the fuck it is. I don’t even know what the fuck it is, honestly. Seems like one of those media triggers to get camps to lob stones at one another. Somehow 4 dickheads standing around with Trump signs is the biggest story in leftist media?

I can’t tell what the actual conspiracy is: QAnon; or the idea that QAnon is actually something worth talking about. The latter seems to have a larger following. I’m pretty sure if lefty media would just shut up about it it would disappear forever. There are less QAnons than there are late night hosts talking about it.

TALLAHASSEE — Floridians as young as 60 will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine starting sometime this month, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday.

“We really believe we have a great pathway to the get the vast, vast, vast majority of seniors with at least one shot very, very soon, and at that point, we’ll look at lowering the age,” DeSantis told reporters in Ocala. “And we’ll make an announcement on that. That will happen sometime in March, and once we have the first date on that we’re going to let everyone know about it.”

DeSantis said 2.5 million people 65 and older have received at least one shot of the vaccine, and reporting lags by three to five days. Florida’s 65 and older population is about 4.5 million, so the state is nearing the time to open up eligibility to more people, he said.

Once demand from that age group begins to slacken, the next phase will be to go down to age 55, he said.

What will help him is that the people who work for him won't get dumped like Trump did to so many staffers and department heads. Loyalty is earned by respecting your boss rather than loyalty used as a threat. That aspect alone makes Joe Biden a good boss. He is not a micro managing dullard like "former guy".

No, that's the only place you remember hearing it. I've heard Trump and Representative, (R) Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene , a huge supporter of Qanon, talk about it. Every time Trump answers a reporter's question about it, he retorts that he's never heard of it. You'd think that sooner or later Trump would recall hearing it mentioned in some reporters question.

As someone who works for the state of Florida with biological research, DeSantis is a piece of shit. He ran on being a fiscal republican but wanting to preserve what WE have here. And them he went full Trump. That guy can die in a fucking flood event as far as I'm concerned. No one I personally know would vote for him again.

I'm voting for a sinkhole, myself. But a las it's not gonna matter for me here soon. Moving back to Oregon. I will say two things about Florida, I'll really miss not having to pay income tax and the gas prices. I'm gonna hold my tongue and just leave everything else for another day. Ok, one other thing, I don't know anyone here that would vote for him either.

Valid thoughts. My girlfriend and I also plan on leaving Florida. Just have to wait until we both finish college courses. This state could be amazing with the right leadership, but it's a cesspool of disgusting Trumpian policies. It's a shame, as it's really quite a beautiful area with a very diverse population.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
What, in your mind, pushes Florida toward such extreme politicians state-wide when, as you noted, the state is quite diverse and is often a battleground state nationally? In other words, this isn't exactly Alabama.

I wish I had a good answer to this, because it is an excellent question. Just like every other state, the large cities largely vote Democrat, and the rural areas largely vote republican. This is nothing new. However, Florida is a really massive state and happens to have a lot of rural areas. Basically any open road is going to have random small communities right off of it. The population is so sprawled out and decentralized. And the Trump cult mentality has definitely taken over all of the rural areas. I'm sure a political scientist could describe this better.

The GOP has historically been anti Cuba so the hispanic Cuban expats in Florida have one of the largest GOP following in the Americah Hispanic community...at least that's where I think they get their votes largely

That seems like a very good assessment. You can definitely see when driving through the state the diversity politically.

Don't kid yourself, Florida is part of the deep South. My aunt moved from Alabama to seek her fortune there. While there she made a lot of money with her two night clubs and two package (liquor) stores. She witnessed a mob hit and went into the witness protection program, got one of her night clubs burned down by the mob because she wouldn't sell out to them, married a small time gangster who got taken out in New Orleans. She married the sheriff and all her troubles went away. That was in Ft. Walton Beach. Later, she relocated to Panama City.
