I must've missed that part. Doesn't really change my opinion on the trade. Barnes isn't a difference maker. he's Sharif Abdur Rahim with an easier name to spell.

I don't know if he helps them enough to justify trading someone with potential. Hill makes them a top 6 team. It's trading for Walter Davis, but without the tragic ending to Petro.

SAR was one of the most underrated players of his time, I’d take that. (No I don’t think Barnes is SAR)

The pro-rated thing only effects how it's counted towards the salary cap. The player would make the same either way.

Trent, Hood and Zach Collins for Aaron Gordon and Michael Carter-Williams works on the trade machine.

I would be shocked if Otto Porter is available. He is a very very good player. No chance we're getting him for free

he’s a free agent at the end of the season. His timeline doesn’t match up with the rest of Chicago’s core. His contract isn’t easy to trade. A buyout could happen, guess it just depends on how the bulls play the next couple of weeks.

Also I'm sure he'd have a lot of other suitors.

I would rather have an injured Zach Collins not playing.

No one would be referring to Lebron as a "vet"

We can agree to disagree on how much of a difference maker he is, but he's on a declining contract, while Hood and Jones may not even be here next season. And Simons has no long term role on this team, IMO.

    And on the pro-Barnes stats:

He's averaging 16 points per 36 on 62% true shooting and 17.6 usage rate. The shooting may not last, but the fact that he's contributing offense on 17.6 usage rate is really what excites me, because the forwards on our team are going to be low usage. Trent has 19.9% usage, Melo is at 23%. Jones and Covington are at ~12% each. You don't think we could benefit by moving some of the usage from Trent/Melo to Barnes who would be replacing either Jones or Cov?

Plus, he plays defense, he plays multiple positions. He's a clear upgrade over Jones in crunch time when you need to space the floor, and he won't kill you on defense like Melo.

his deal has a team option for next season. Safe to say Miami will waive him?

worse, for Meyers, is that he could be without a contract in less than 4 months. He might have to go thru a year or two before any team would sign him. Maybe longer because he isn't that good

2 seconds of unthinking bad mouth could cost him millions
