That makes sense....hard to trace some romanizations of languages phonetically...I think some throat sounds don't really have consonants in english so.."k" might be used.
Sometimes it is hard to remember what not to say in todays world. Im not sayin that should dismiss what he said, he should apologize publicly and immediately. But im a person who grew up saying “your gay” as an insult actually meant no more than to mean stupid. But then word gay used to mean happy before it referred to a sexual preference. Ive caught myself saying things i shouldnt say because it was just how one grew up. shot i think sly had to pm me on something i said once and it took that for me to immediately realize my error.
He paid his agent to have that written for him and if he didn't....good for him..hope he means it...I find it as I mentioned very hard to believe an american who's had any exposure to american history and racial slurs should know that this was a racist slur even if they don't know why...it's been pointed out all our lives. As it is....it's going to be an expensive and lasting mistake by Meyers.
But that reflects growth. That happens. A word you didn't know was offensive was, it was pointed out to you. But I imagine whatever it was you said, it wasn't in a fake angry way where you knew it was at least supposed to be something bad, and said it with bitch following it the way Meyers did. DOes he know the exact meaning? No. Probably not. And many in here don't either. Does he know it's a negative slur? Sure seems like it in the way it was used.
That was a pretty stupid move obviously. I wonder how many people were watching his stream live when it happened and how fast the flag got raised on him. He basically just assured himself that he'll be waived in 4 months if not let go before then.
Look, we are all sports fans. And I would bet we all get heated watching games. There have been times I yelled curses to make a sailor blush while watching TV, although in person (remember those days?) I rarely used anything stronger than damn. But no matter how I loathed, say, James Harden, I never screamed the n word. And he wouldn't hear me! What I am trying to say is that we should, even when heated, drunk, whatever, have a line we don't cross. It's possible Leonard was ignorant but I have to ask why. He's a grown man, an educated person, he needn't be a historian to have some awareness.
I actually think Meyers is stupid enough to not know what the word meant. I mean we’ve seen him play basketball..
I don’t know if you’re ignorant or what, but just know you are dying a hill to defend someone who angrily called someone a pretty awful slur. Which is weird.
Why are people hung up on “what it means”, but they know it’s offensive? Sooooo maybe it means something bad. Don’t say it. Who cares what it means.
Right. I agree. But apparently if people don’t know the actual definition of the word it means something. Like oh well I can say this word I know is offensive but since I don’t know it’s fucking origin let it fly
Oh he’s for sure stupid. But as we know by now, you can be both stupid and racist (see: 2016 election).
