Kudos to @calvin natt ! Isn't this the first time in our history here that a poster actually got a real scoop, and ahead of Woz! I just wish we had someone inside the Blazers!
Pop is trying to make this look nice, trying to make LMA look decent (so they can hopefully get something back for him); but looks as if the facts are that Aldridge just got tired of playing for the Spurs and wants out. I don't want this kind of guy here.
Would Miami trade Meyers and Olynyk for him? That is about the only winning team I see with the contracts to do it. If bought out I would sign him for the vet minimum, although ideally one of Melo or Kanter is moved as well, we don't need all three. Maybe combine signing Aldridge if there is an Aaron Gordon trade (Gordon MCW for Trent Hood Collins Kanter) Nurk Aldridge Giles Gordon Melo Roco DJJ Little CJ Simons Dame MCW Kanter is great if Nurk misses time, but I don't know if him and Melo can coexist well off the bench, along with Aldridge being best at C.
The Spurs are rebuilding... its fine if Aldridge wants out and asks the Spurs nicely in private. Its not like Aldridge is the focus of Spurs marketing, season ticket renewals, TV coverage, or fan interest. He's just a guy on the roster to them, who now decided he will walk in a few months. I'm all for bashing Aldridge, but in this instance he's fine. Now if you don't want to sign him because he gave up in the Memphis playoffs for us, was jealous of Lillard, and you think he will be a problem here; fine I can respect that opinion.
It’s so funny to me how these players getting bought out and signed are good enough for legitimate title contenders but evidently not good enough for Blazers fans. It’s a good joke. We’re not gonna turn into a good defensive team in the middle of the season, especially under Stotts. That’s a fantasy. So we may as well try and out score everyone.
Boston and Miami are the only two teams with the contracts/tools to get a deal done, IMO. Aldridge's contract makes it quite hard to match salaries.
I’ll say this, I’d rather play Aldridge than Kanter. Kanters offense is limited to around the basket, so teams don’t have to change the way they guard Dame. With Aldridge they would since he can space and has turned himself into a legitimate three point shooter. He’s also a better passer.
Ok, so let's say you replace Kanter with LMA. Do you think LMA is okay with playing 18 minutes per game as a backup?
