good point. I know Stotts is a believer and I think we have a few on the team that love that game. No wonder Aldridge wants to come back here now.

Not only does Aldo prefer the girl at the next table over his own girlfriend; it appears he also prefers the ex-girlfriend over his present girlfriend.

Have to wonder if it is same reason Olshey won't fill out the roster. They are both aiming for next year? They need to know if they should pick up Hood's option then.

Horrible loss. You can’t afford to lose these games.

I worry Olshey will find there is no trade market for Hood and then somehow talk himself into rolling it back next year thinking his value will magically be way different in 2022.

by the time you're eligible for social security, when it comes to women, 3 isn't better than 1; 0 is better than 1

    ???

RoCo took 13 shots. Seven of them were 3s.

Little took 5 shots. Three of them were 3s.

Dame took 21 shots. Thirteen of them were 3s.

Combined they had 10 FTs, and nine of those were by Dame.

    We took 45 3s and 44 2s.

If you think we attacked the basket, you and I have very different ideas of attacking the basket. On Saturday, we shot 47 2s and 40 3s and got to the line nine more times than on Sunday.

We passed up a number of easier paths to the basket to take contested 3-pointers.

My theory is he thinks the team needs a second ballhandler and doesn't feel comfortable with Ant in that role. Also, Hood is a better defender than Ant, clearly.

I think he sees Dame getting worn down halfway through the season and Hood is the best option to keep our star player from getting run into the ground.

Not saying I agree or disagree with it, but I'd bet that's the reasoning behind it. He's bringing the ball up court way too much even when Dame's out there for it to be any other reason.

For fuck’s sake man, learn the difference between correlation and causation. You seem to have the two confused.

I think I have a good understanding of the difference between the two. If you would like to explain which is which in terms of passing and wins, I would love to hear your theory and why the trend line goes in a negative direction.

Unfortunately, whichever you decide, the data will not support the conclusions that have been drawn. The amount of passes or the amount of passes that lead to assisted attempts do not correlate with winning. Not my opinion, it's what the data above says.

Also of note, causation vs correlation matters when you're trying to indentify which of the two variables is the determinant in the other. For example, do assists go up when you make more shots or do you make more shots when your assists go up. In this case, because the trend line has a slight negative slope and near zero correlation, I'm not sure causation vs correlation even matters.

I know the personal insults are meant to avoid the topic at hand, but I think staying on topic would be more enjoyable for others.

I like know Olshey view of his coach when you bring in a guy and sign him 9 million dollars for the reason for defense and he sitting on the bench when they needed defense. This my view Stotts don't give a shit about the defense side and he hopes we can out score the other the team. If Olshey is not piss how he use his players after he signed them for purpose and continue to allow him to coach for you maybe it's time for Olshey to go too.

It's a bit crazy that our best 1:1 defender was on the bench as Edwards was going off. I guess Stotts was fine with Edwards scoring at will on Melo and Dame/Gary.

He is CONSISTENTLY a minute or two late on any obvious substitutions. What does that say about him when fans are like "we're bleeding points, bring back Dame" and then 2 game time minutes later here comes Dame. But by then we're down 10.

He's always favored offense over defense. But I dunno, Hood keeps playing heavy minutes in the 4th for (theoretical) spacing I guess? But Jones is actually shooting a higher percentage on 3s....

I think Terry is trying to force Hood into the CJ role as the secondary ball handler...... but Hood can't shoot right now. He's extremely inconsistent at best. I don't care if he can handle the ball. I'm sure Blevins could handle the ball. That doesn't mean he should play.

anyone can be a ball handler for the blazers we don’t actually run plays or anything off the ball. It’s just a bunch of iso and the occasional pick and roll with the center.

maybe Blazers are trying to showcase Hood....?

if so, the only thing it has accomplished has been to set Hood's value as just an expiring contract. Look for teams with players having a similar salary, but longer deal. Unfortunately, Hood's expiring contract my have more value for Portland than any other team. Dame and CJ will combine for 81M in salary next season, while Trent, Kanter, Collins, Giles, and Melo will be all due new contracts, as well as Jones potentially opting out
