No one will ever call that out in the coach bashing. The Rangers goalies have let up so many soft goals this year, it's an embarrassment now. More soft goals allowed this season than in 5 seasons with Hank.
Kinkaid had to make saves on like 3o breakaways it seemed. You can't expect a career backup to be great all the time. It all comes again to the system team employs. Unfortunately, this team has no identity or system in place. It's a one-way street. Laf and Kakko continue sucking under this coaching.
That was a horrendous loss. Kinkaid sucks ass!! Worse game I’ve seen Miller play this seasons almost every one of his pinches resulted in off man rush the other way. Would have loved to see kakko out there in the 3 on 3.
Way to stay on message Step...laughable. Agreed 100% mel. Kincaid is what he is. Our goaltending has been terrible this season. And Miller needs to start playing the fundamental game. Relying way too much on his reach and base skills. He is not playing smart % hockey. Part of his growth and evolution as a player I'd say.
I really hope Igor comes back soon and stays healthy. We need him to play, because clearly we have no backups to speak of. His injuries concern me. Hank's time had come and gone, but this s something we didn't have to worry about for 13 or 14 years. You take that for granted sometimes.
Reunanen looked solid so that's the takeaway from the night. I think he's going be a good 3rd pair guy.
In theory we have plenty of options on D to complete a good 3rd pair behind Lindgren/Fox and Miller/Trouba. Hopefully some of the kids step up to fill the roles. I also think we'll sign a good vet top 4 LD this summer. Maybe a Dunn type.
Think about this for one minute - Zib, Laff, and Kakko have 9 combined goals in 74 combined games - that is awful. Wow.
Kakko needs a top flight C to play with, as he just doesn't have the creativity on his own. I still have my doubts as to whether he's going to live up to being a #2 overall, instead maybe a solid 60 pt guy resembling a #6-7th type pick.
They could have easily caved and got run out of their own building but the Rangers responded well in the 2nd, though doubtful anything happened in the locker room between periods to motivate them. Nobody is questioning Gauthier's skill, baby Huey needs to stop taking lazy penalties and he'll get more minutes just like Joe said after he scored that beautiful goal. Kincaid is only a temporary fill in so crushing him seems pointless, the question is whether Shesty is the answer. Another one goal loss (10th of the season). Just like that rotten Quinn to keep another game close fully knowing he was going to sabotage the end with some exotic game losing strategy. Curse you dastardly Dave! Great debut by Reunanen, yet another reason to be excited this year or keep rolling that wheelbarrow full of lemons around the Karenaid stand.
Are you on crack? Quinn didn't keep game close. Unless you were being sarcastic, Quinn lost it with his usual, dumb fuck theory that if they won the game before and played well, keep the same lineup. Kinkaid is a terrible goalie. Going back to him was moronic. There is a reason he was in the minors. He blows. Agree with Kakko that he needs an elite playmaking center and the Rangers don't have anybody close to that on the roster or in the system. If Kravtsov comes over and shines, I'm not entirely sure Kakko won't be used to try and get an Eichel.
That last post from the non-Rangers fan is classic. Rips Quinn when he plays Georgiev. Rips Quinn for coming back with Kincaid after a shutout. There are no other choices. Once again no matter what Quinn does he'll get ripped. And again he sees nothing wrong with his nonsensical rants and takes. You cannot make this stuff up.
They need to start drafting centers in early draft rounds and stop going for the best available player in the draft no matter what his position is. Go with what you actually need in the system. They never seem to draft centers. Chytil was an exception but he may end up being a winger.
The Oilers and Pens drafted McDavid and Crosby who made immediate impacts. The Rangers draft wingers that while young clearly have a long way to go. And we still have no idea what they will be.
