I'm not arguing with you right now. And I was talking to him. Not you. Is that logical enough for you?

There are so many things wrong with this statement.

Who here doesn't like the team? That's why we're here right?

Who here isn't rooting for the team? Anyone?

And finally, who exactly is bashing people for liking the team? I need examples. If anything, it's the "homers" who like to attack people who they view as negative. Did you not just see River question if those people are really fans of the team?

This place has always been a hotbed for argument, not just discussion. I know I've only been on S2 for seven years and maybe the change took place before I made the migration from OLive but the only reason I've seen an uptick in people being called homers is that some in here are defending an unprecedented run of mediocrity by Olshey and Sotts and telling people that don't want to accept that nonsense that they aren't fans. Then comes the retort by those that are critical and back and forth we go.

The solution is simple. The team ends this madness and then I go back to being a homer. I've been called a homer until the last few years when I realized that Olshey, Stotts and/or CJ had to go. We need Olshey to go so a real basketball person can decide the fate of Stotts and the roster. Then I'll go back to being a "homer". The problem for many in here is we just don't understand why our team is setting records for how long a head coach and GM can stay with a team without any significant success.

Even arguments are ok in my eyes, as long as it's about the Blazers or the NBA. The bummer is when the responses start being about the other person being blind, dumb, embarrassed, "i bet you didn't play basketball", etc. I know it's a deflective tactic, but I wish it happened less. I'll be the first to admit I've got sucked into those myself, so I'm not claiming to be perfect.

We should all be comfortable with our opinions being challenged. I appreciate when someone provides accurate, dissenting information to a topic and isn't just making up quotes or using hyperbole to make things better/worse than they are.

There’s literally no instances where one head coache stays on one team without a championship let alone a finals appearance. Shit 10 years and not even a single conference finals win! 10 years!! That’s ridiculous

Yeah in a post saying that someone's point of view on a specific subject is blind, dumb or embarrassing doesn't bother me. If the person is being called those things that's against the rules. I hate the "you didn't play basketball" or "you didn't play at the level I did" shit. That's just lame. I actually do not mind hyperbole if it's just in an opinion and not being touted as backed up by facts, I find that amusing.

Overall I definitely agree with you that some of this negativity needs to be curtailed. That being said, I don't see that it's more extreme now than before. I just think when someone points out that it started two or three years ago that it's kind of funny because that's when any normal team would have fired Stotts, Olshey or both. Sports fans and ownership in general never settle for mediocre stagnation.

It is nine until the end of the season but I agree with you that it's ridiculous. What I find more ridiculous is that some fans in here are outraged by the idea of changing the head coach and or the GM at this point. I'm confused by them accepting the duration of mediocrity but it's mind boggling that they attack those of us that want change after what is already an abnormal amount of time, saying that we're not fans because we want new management or coaching. Just some weird stuff.

Agree that it seems like it the same since Ive been here form OL 6 years or so? I don't mind banter back and forth as everyone is entitled to their pov, if its civil and zero attacks on a person, its when it gets to crank and personal winning at all cost that bugs me.

Bad coaches usually breed bad chemistry and poor personal relationships within the team. Good coaches work on overall growth for a team and stay competitive. Great coaches do all that and win Championships.
One thing is for certain Stotts falls into that "Good' coach area but probably not in that "Great" coach area. I would welcome a great coach at any time and if Stotts does get fired i will try to support the next one as long as he is worth supporting. (I didn't much care for PJ Carlisimo. He was tough to support.)

The part that I dislike is the vulgar personal attacks on him. He does a bunch of really good things and the team has been for the most part successful. Yes we all would love for them to get a Championship again. Terry Stotts just like Nate McMillan before him are very good coaches and some of the most respected individuals in the league. They have earned and deserve respect in my opinion. Go to any game thread and read the comments. The internet has taken away personal accountability for saying things that nobody would have used to say about other people. Heck you don't have to go to any game thread just read the first 15-20 pages of this one.
Then some people wonder why a bunch of people who used to post here simply don't any longer.

Extremely weird. My only theory is these are the fans that don’t care about championships. They care about being an ok team. Make the playoffs. Have a decent first round and that’s it. That’s all they care about.

I'll just say that there might be some shit that goes on in here that is in bad taste but it's nothing compared to Jet on OLive if you remember that guy. I never even engaged with that guy he was just purely toxic. I think you're right the OLive migration was about six years ago now.

They shut it down completely three years ago. Yes Jet was a problem. There was a guy named Blazem that was a bit toxic. We all knew Cup.

Bendblazer was different though. He made grand statements about his personal wealth and private jets. His connections were beyond compare.
