Hoping we play as well as yesterday with the exception of cashing in on a few more opportunities and not letting OVI sit 3 feet in front of the goal again by himself. Will be interesting to see what madman Wilson does in his return today. Note to rangers....please replace buch with kakko on PP1.
I don't have any issue if they put Kakko on PP1 over Buch, but we need to be fair with our assessment of Kakko today. The guy has 2 goals...TWO (and only 4 points). He just has to be better. That's on him. It is really crazy he only has 2 goals this season, almost impossible to imagine that would be the case. Now I stress the word TODAY because I am still very high on him overall, and realize he's a young kid learning his way in the NHL, so this isn't about his future or upside, this is about today, and today he has to be better to earn more time and responsibility. Two goals this season is not good enough from him. You have to wonder if his struggles are due to his playing style. Coming up using his size/body/physicality were his strengths. That is very difficult to translate into the NHL at 19 years old. That's why I am not concerned about his future/upside, because I think his strengths will become strengths again as he gains more experience, and his body continues to grow into a man and NHL player. Hopefully he picks it up to end the season, and then looks like a different player in year 3. That will really help the team take the next step next season.
He needs a 1a/1b C with him or he will struggle to put up the points we expect from him. Just doesn't have the creativity or quickness. He can mirror Rantanen if they get him an Eichel/Barkov.
This organization is retarded. Strome on the RW on the PP absolutely kills it. I counted 5 to 7 shots that Kakko could have one timed on the right wing on that PP. What the fuck is wrong this organization.
Good zone time on the pp but you can't score if you don't shoot or hit the net when you do. Still think Fox is too deferrent.
Fire Quinn. They have to put Kakko on the first power-play unit one timing it and get Strome off of there. It was sweet watching that scumbag Dillion fucking up the game
See mel, this is why I cannot and will not stop. This fake Ranger fan today says today this is Quinn's team after they lose last night. They win tonight and the comment is they play harder for this coach, and fire Quinn. Again - good equals anybody but Quinn. Bad equals blame Quinn, fire him now. You need to stop following your leader and be the true Ranger fan you say you are. Onto the game, very good effort and win. Zib starting to find his game. Huge game winning goal tonight. This team is learning every game, and is going to be real good when they find their consistency and learn how to win in the NHL. I think they'll be a top team next season with the right finish by Gorton this summer.
Kakko has 2 goals and 4 points all season and you act like it's a travesty he isn't on PP1 over Strome. Same with Gauthier, who has 2 goals in his NHL career. The nitpicky non-sense is crazy.
I was watching old clips from the late 2000 teams and 2010 teams with Avery, Orr, Prust, Dubie, Jags, Hank, Straka, Zuc, Cally, etc man I miss those teams. I liked hockey much better back then. That’s when this team was fun to watch. Hard to believe Avery retired 10 years ago. Man time flies. Now I’m stuck watching a bunch of pussies lose a lot of hockey games
Well, it's absurd Gauthier isn't playing. Blackwell on the first line is a joke. It just is. Kakko not one timing it on the first PP unit is a disgrace. There are some really stupid things this organization is doing. I'm pretty shocked JD and Gorton are so inept. You get the first and second overall picks in the draft and you are playing a non NHL talent in Blackwell over them. That's what organizations who have 1 cup in 81 years do.
To recap: It was Quinn you are awful and should be fired when Gauthier was scratched and Blackwell was on the 2nd line. It was Quinn you are awful and should be fired when Kakko was not on PP1 over Strome. But now that Quinn isn't here the past 3 games, you have now shifted that blame to the organization since it cannot be Knoblauch. Once again good equals Knoblauch, and now bad equals the organization, because even though you want to you cannot blame Quinn since he isn't here. So JD/Gorton are calling down and saying hey coach, play Blackwell with Panarin, Strome on PP1, and scratch Gauthier. Not the coaches making those decisions. Seems plausible... Oh and BTW, how about some accountability for Kakko TODAY. The guy has 2 goals all season...2. 4 points all season...4. That's less than Lemieux. He's playing with top players, and playing 15 MPG. What has he done to deserve more responsibility right now? Meanwhile Gauthier has 2 goals in his whole NHL career...2. And while I may agree he should be in the lineup, it is not some travesty of justice to go crazy over. Nitpicky nonsense. Sidebar - if Quinn were coaching last night you guys would be all over this today despite the win - Alexis Lafreniere got one 34-second shift over the final 12:45 and finished with a season-low of 7:53. Filip Chytil got two shifts worth 1:10 over the final 12:45.
This is why I maintain you cannot be a Rangers fan. Even when they win all you do is complain non-stop. Step back and look at this team, while young and inconsistent as expected, this team continues to be resilient, which is a credit to Quinn/Gorton/JD. Throughout most of the season, whenever you wanted to count them out they have almost always come back with a very solid performance. Good leadership with a team that is getting closer, and will be a very good team next season, I have no doubt about that. It's exciting. Instead during the day you say it's Quinn's team (of course after an L), then after the win you knock Quinn and say he should be fired. You will always find something to complain about. Enjoy watching the young team grow, credit the coaches and organization for having such a quick turnaround to being relevant again (look at how many teams have been rebuilding for years and years), and look forward to this summer/next season when I think we'll have a team that can be a legit SC contender in place. That's sounds great to me, but I know you rather complain non-stop. You go true Ranger fan...
I would like Knoblauch to be given the freedom to choose who he wants on the lines and on the PP. Or if he does have that freedom, be told that he can do whatever he wants. Pretty sure he's not going to try and rock the boat. Strome has played well here. Buch has been great this season. They both suck on the PP.
What a goal by Mika! Imagine if he had played with the effort and intensity he's brought the last 6 games, 11 one goal losses might be 6 or 7. All that matters is he seems to be back and is a vital part of any playoff run. Kinkaid also deserves props for a solid game. Quinn was hired a few years ago to address the horrid defensive play AV had made habit and with trades and removal of dead wood the Rangers have become a solid defensive team with a formidable forecheck. Now The Fire Quinn Karens switch the attack to offense and insist that guys who give half the effort of Blackwell get his playtime. Sorry kids, maybe when your daddy coached you way back when your silly playtime rules applied, but here in the real world you earn your minutes.
I don't think Brooks has ever written anything truer - spot on: And interesting it was to see Kris Knoblauch double down and go Full Quinn from behind the bench by sitting kids and heaping time on the big guns down the stretch of Saturday’s victory in Washington. Of course, when David Quinn, the head guy who is expected to be in COVID protocol through at least Friday, pulls a stunt like that, he should be dismissed immediately. But when the acting guy, Knoblauch, does it, that proves that he has the pulse of the team and should be hired to replace the other one forthwith.
