I see a lot of ideas in here of Jones or Hood + Zach + Gary for Gordon. Well that trade works as far as the CBA goes but it's not going to work for this team because it puts us in the repeater tax... unless you've got another move up your sleeve that dumps a couple million. I really think that the move is Hoodie, Jones and Trent for Gordon and MCW. I'm pretty sure that leaves us with enough room under the tax apron to sign someone from the buyout market too, if we're a few hundred thousand away from getting a buy out player then we'd have to pick up a G League all star. If it took Zach to get the deal done they could have him and we can sign two buyout players.

I think the move is Jones, Gary, Zach and Hood (who the Magic would buyout) so maybe we add cash for Gordon and MCW (the Magic would have to trade Bacon or Clark to some team for a second rounder). We could then pick up a couple of buyout players to finish out our roster.

I really think Dame, CJ, RoCo, Gordon, Nurk, Melo, MCW, Enes, Nas, Ant, Giles, Blevins and two buyout players is a much better roster than what we have right now. This is all if Olshey is really high on Gordon, knows he's not going to re-sign Gary and is unsure about Zach's future like anyone should be.

I realize but they did draft Gordon, Isac and Bamba & Vucevic at 11.

He a 32% career three point shooter. RoCo is 36%.

That might be a slippery slope. Dame/CJ haven't exactly made the Blazers a factor in the West.

Did you miss the "this year" part of what you were responding to? You also have to think that he's doing that as the number one guy that other teams game plan for. Wait... this is hilarious. Not that 1% is a big deal on RoCo's numbers but you gave RoCo's three point percentage from this season (which is higher than his career) and Gordon's career (which is far lower than this season). That's some political spin.

RoCos career 3% is 36%., which happens to be what is is now shooting this year.
I was comparing 3point careers performance as one criteria.
The guy isn't whom I'd want for a big trade. To injury prone.

Not now, not every, no matter what. Olshey is bound and determined to make a small, non-defensive backcourt work. Of course it would be the first time in the history of the NBA, but no worries. We got this.

    The East sucks.
We constantly are in the playoffs.
They constantly miss the playoffs. In the sucky East.
Dame and CJ have been in the WCF. How far has Aaron Gordon been?
Not really a slippery slope at all.

No it's just a great example of bad sports math. "If this guy did this and that guy didn't, then this guy must be better than that." Come on man. There are so many different variables at play here. The fact is you are literally comparing a duo of players to a single player. You are only sighting where teammates were drafted and how long they've been in the league. The only actual determining factors you are referencing are the conferences they play in and if they make the playoffs. Those two things don't determine anything. If someone was saying Gordon should win the MVP then the factors you are pointing out would have some bearing but no one is saying that. So what you're saying isn't a slippery slope, it has no logical merit.

Well, that 1st round pick might be a bit difficult to do for Portland.

John Collins would be a better fit.

Not really, we would just call the Rockets ask them if it's cool if we leave this year's pick unprotected and then send over 2023 first rounder. I think DJ is a good young player. So Hood, DJ and 2023 first rounder. I don't think that would be too much if Olshey really is high on Gordon. If they wanted Ant too then Olshey should probably go for it... especially if Olshey is crazy enough to think he's keeping Dame, CJ and Gary for next season.

Probably. But I think they're closer than we might think. Here's hoping.

No point in pursuing John Collins. He wants a max deal which is why Atlanta is punting. Portland would have to be crazy to hand out another max deal to another non-all star, with CJ already on the books. Don’t get me wrong, I like John Collins the player, just not the potential price tag to keep him beyond this year.

I wasn’t comparing anyone. I was not the OP.

Additionally, I was not the one who said “CJ/Dame haven’t exactly made the Blazers a factor” in response to a comment about Aaron Gordon. So take up your issue with TBpup, since those were that persons words. They compared CJ/Dame to AG and The Magic, not I.

    I responded to that comment.

    your response makes no sense.

I'd wonder if the stories about Orlando "driving a hard bargain" is just negotiating 101. They could be trolling the water to gauge interest. Asking price 5 days before the deadline could be a lot different 5 hours before the deadline. So could offers for that matter

and the part about Orlando wanting a young player and a pick was reported 3 days ago. The way twitter and the blogosphere seem to work is one rumor gets regurgitated 50 times and it makes it look like there's more to it than there is

My thought is that a year ago if Blazer fans had been given the choice between getting Gordon or getting RoCo, they’d have been about evenly divided as to which to go for. I’m not sure Gordon is enough of a needle mover to be worth disrupting the roster mid season.
