    again, Portland has to deal with the minimum roster requirements; they are at the minimum of 14 already (although a team can drop to 13 for two weeks)

    so, they'd have to sign a player before that trade. Maybe a 10-day contract would work, for a little while. But eventually, they'd have to sign two players for the rest of the season

    so you have to do the pro-rated minimum contract math on veterans (a percentage of 1.61M) or non- veterans (a percentage of 900K). If it's Trent part of the deal, Portland might be able to sign a vet and non-vet, depending on how late they can sign each player. If it was Simons in the trade instead of Trent, Portland would gain a shade under 600K more margin, and that actually allows quite a bit more flexibility

    I think Bos can absorb Fournier’s contract into their $28M (Hayward) trade exception without sending anything else back. But we’ll see if this deal goes through as reported.

    Maybe not this year, but I don't think you can discount the impact that having him on the roster could make next year. Not saying you're right or wrong or that I want him or don't, just that it's hard to just empirically say "getting this guy doesn't do it" without acknowledging the myriad possibilities that exist during his contract (ie. trading CJ in the offseason, S&Ting Trent, etc.)

    Why wouldn’t we be whiny at this point? The team is playing like ass. We clearly need changes. Dame is 30. The time for patience with this front office is way past due.
