Does he make it through the end of the year or does he get fired before the season ends?

I highly doubt that Stotts will get fired before the season ends

So if we were to lose all three games to the Grizzlies... not even then?

    Nope.
Not until they are officially eliminated from the playoffs

The sad truth is, I don't know if this franchise is serious enough about winning to pay Stotts the last year of his contract while paying the next head coach the first year of theirs. It might not even be that. Maybe it's that Jody and the Vulcans are completely buying Olshey's bullshit and Olshey wants to keep Stotts. If the question was does Stotts get fired after this season, I'd answer yes. If the question was do I want both Stotts and Olshey fired right now, that's another yes. I just don't think there is the kind of urgency needed in this organization right now to take the drastic moves that are needed to turn this team in the right direction.

Dude should have been fired after the NOLA sweep. So I'm not confident that the team will make a statement firing like they should. By the way, that statement firing should be from Chris McGowan and it should be Neil and Terry simultaneously... today.

The safe bet is he does, but I think he’s lost the locker room, and I think he’s lost Dame. It’s almost like he knows they’ve gone as far as Stotts will take them. I’ve watched dame his entire career, I know when he’s locked in. It’s not there anymore.

Here's the thing, if the team hopes to make the playoffs and make revenue off the playoffs, if they don't do SOMETHING they're going to go into the postseason with a fanbase that has zero hope to win anything and will most likely be unwilling to shell out any money. So if they fire Stotts they have at least the chance that the replacement turns things around and there's some excitement going into the postseason. But with Stotts driving the team into the dirt, is really anyone excited if we somehow limp into the postseason?

I wouldn’t pay even one dollar to watch a Stotts team! Yes even my beloved Blazers. I hope you're reading this Neil!

@blazerkor ... completely agree. This is where Dame did the franchise no favors and his loyalty got in the way.

Terry 'Helfrich' Stotts has guaranteed this team would not progress beyond mediocrity and had enabled an approach that absolutely won't work in the Playoffs.

Were they going to win some of those series? Likely not. But NO TEAM with a player the caliber of Dame has been swept out of the Playoffs in the non-existent manner that the Blazers have.

To waste year after year on such a flawed approach and strategy has been disheartening. It was easy to see with Stotts (and CJ) years ago and nothing has changed except time has been wasted.

I'm sure it has sounded like a broken record for the past 5+ years, but mercifully, I believe at least part of it will come to an end.
Sad that it had to take until Dame will be near 31 for it to happen.

Same here. I hope Dame is old enough to realize things.

I highly doubt anyone has the stones around this organization to do anything dramatic. I get the "we're Portland, we're just happy to be here" vibes from the current front office leadership.

He stays until the end and more likely they will fire at the end. Because if they don't then like someone said they wouldn't by a ticket to see Stotts team.

Anyone see Morants interview coming out of halftime. He was pissed and called it about straight line drives and and lack of D. He's the only one on the c staff that doesn't sugar coat things and shows some emotion. He was that way as a physical player.

I still don't see it as Dame's fault in the least bit. First off I still don't think that Dame is the puppeteer that so many in here claim he is. If Dame is pulling all of the strings at this moment, this is a business and Dame while a big part of this iteration of the company... is not the company. While those in charge may have ceded away the decision making power to Dame that is their decision to make every second of every day.

Responsible management would sit Dame down, explain to him that his way (if this has been his way) is not working and tell him the direction that they are going in. In this case it should be bringing in a new GM that will come in fire his head coach and trade away a bunch of his friends, in order to make this a contender that's built around him.

If Dame doesn't like that then I would let him give me a list of destinations he wants to go and try to accommodate him while getting the most trade value for him. I would also make sure that Dame understood that when asked why the trade was made the organization would have to tell the truth, that Dame requested a trade even if that did hurt Dame's "letter O" brand. I do not think it would come to any of this. I think we should fire Stotts and Olshey today and the new GM should trade CJ. I think we would see Dame do what he always does and say that it's a business and it's time to try and win with his new teammates.

I don't think it's so much that Dame is actively keeping them here. I think that Dame is not stepping up and putting pressure on the organization to make changes to try to win. Not the kinds of changes that need to be made. You think Kobe or Jordan or LeBron would sit by and get rocked in the first round over and over and over?

Stotts will make it to the end of the season. Then he will be fired.

The issue is the Blazers don't have a assistant with head coaching experience on the staff. IF they did I could see a change being made, but since none of the guys have much experience as a head coach I just don't see them making a change. Atlanta had Nate, Portland doesn't have that. I think he will be gone after the season but will be shocked if he is let go mid season.

Does it really matter at this point? A folded chair could coach better than Stotts. Not even an UNFOLDED chair. A folded chair.
