We should be giving this entire team another chance with a new coach to finish out the season. If things continue to tumble, look at building around Dame with some new key pieces. I wouldn’t trade Dame away yet.
This is obviously to the Sixers for Ben Simmons, but if they wouldn't give up Simmons for Harden, why would they do it for Dame?
I think 2/3's of the league is drunk on snake oil. Think about the teams in the league now that have never won a championship throughout the many years. And I thinks its getting tougher with the super teams and such. Im rooting for the Jazz, Memphis & Phoenix types to win it all but as they never have and they are damn good ball teams, but its going to be tough. I really am hoping for new ownership and management/coaching.
Okay then, this is your first move: A starting lineup of CJ, Powell, RoCo, Simmons and Nurk (with Simmons playing PG from the PF position) is exciting. Instruct Stotts to play uptempo with fierce D (a la Memphis) and fire him if he doesn't. Meanwhile, Philly replaces Simmons and Seth Curry with Dame and Thybulle, and brings Curry off the bench. Their defense takes a bit of a hit, but Dame complements Embiid so much better than Simmons...
Yes, Simmons can't shoot but wouldn't it be nice to have an all-D candidate in our starting lineup? Next to two very solid defenders in RoCo and Nurk? I salivate.
1. The Hornets have a bazillion small guards already. 2. Hayward is a constant injury threat I would hope we can do better. If we can't, we need to trade Dame instead (for his good as much as ours), because without Dame CJ becomes a lot more useful.
As much as I love Lillard. I’m more attached to my favorite team. If Lillard is past his prime (which right now I don’t think he is) and it makes sense to go in a different direction and scrap out the team I’m okay with that. After all we got Lillard and McCollum on a rebuild. It’s part of life and also a big part of being a fan. He’ll forever be revered here. * I’m not saying we should. I’m just saying when that time comes
New GM, new coach and a rebuild around Dame that doesn't include CJ and gets Dame a complementary second option instead of a BFF he takes turns with on O and neverending breaks with on D. A new GM could take all of this mismatched talent and build a contender around Dame and a decent coach.
How is this turning on Dame? If anything, this is allowing him a chance at a ring that he wouldn't get otherwise. You think he looks happy right now? Another reason to trade Dame: he's stunting players' growths. This team has come to rely on him too much, which means that he inevitably has to carry us. And when he can't, like now, the team can't win. It must be exhausting always thinking that it's all on you.
Cause Dame and CJ are not bad players, he just got the best at what he could at that pick order. If you redo that 2012 NBA draft, Dame goes #2, instead of #6. 2013 draft, everyone whiffed on Giannis.......but Cj is still the 2nd or 3rd best player we picked at like 10. Pending if you like Rudy more. So yeah, I trust him with a rebuild.
there has been lots of reporting on this. The Blazer scouting department had been targeting Dame since he was a sophomore at Weber State. There was even discussion about how the Blazers could get into a position to draft Lillard in 2011 if he turned pro after his junior season Chad Buchanen, when he was the interim GM, was thinking about Portland getting Dame in the 2012 draft when he traded Gerald Wallace to the Nets. As it worked out it was a genius move and the backdrop to all this was Portland's nearly decade long obsession about landing the PGOTF. They did, and the die was cast before Olshey was hired
