I appreciate the heads up, while I never liked Wheels on the Blazer broadcasts, I loved his old radio show, so this sounds right up my alley. Plus I've been looking for a new Blazers podcast to listen to since Joe Freeman stopped doing the RIP City report. Mike Richman does a decent job with the "Locked On" pods but he's a little dry as a solo show.
Portland Trail Blazers Weekly Recap (18) - YouTube In my searches I found this Blazer podcast as well...even keeled...guys easy to listen to who I think have a healthy perspective on the team. This pod is really new and has no traffic....give them a listen "Around the NBA with Chris & Eric" joins Underdog Podcasts | SportsTwo S2's own CC and Eric also are great listens....highly recommended
The Kevin Calabro interview is great...just finished it....covid scared him into retiring last year. He wasted no time going home and getting out of the public for good reasons....makes me appreciate the people who've risked the road to bring us hoops with such a high risk factor around it. Wheels voice sounded stronger in this interview so I hope he just had a cold in the first one.
I remember when I used to work graveyard many years ago and Jim Valvano’s (Jimmy V) brother hosted a national radio show I’d listen to on my way home from work. Wheels had a weekly segment where he’d call in and they’d BS and do sports trivia together. It was great.
In terms of content, I enjoy Wheels new podcast more than anything else Blazer related. He doesn't have the pressure of towing the company line, but also doesn't feel the need to be over-the-top negative to pander to viewers. His connections to guests also add value that nobody else really provides. Great to hear his voice again.
KC is certainly going to be landing himself a nice gig very soon. I'm probably in the minority, but I think he's the best PBP guy we've had. 2nd to Steve Snapper Jones if I were to rate all the TV talent over the last 30 years.
When I discovered this podcast I was thrilled...first thing I thought was..."Once again we can say it's a great day to be a Blazer!" Wheels is like a long lost friend coming home with stories for days..I think this is a great platoform for him
Finished catching up on his old episodes last night...looking forward to his next guest Jason Quick to see how Wheels deals with Quick's recent output about the team.
According to Wheels he'll be putting out 3 of these per week year round, even throughout the offseason....love his interviews with other play by play guys talking about growing up and muting the tv at home so they could call games from their living rooms watching tv....great stuff. Hope people spread the word and help Wheels make a solid career out of this...I'm all in!
If it was a pet graveyard you'd have few choices...Lassie, Old Yeller, Trigger....Bubbles the chimp..Hidalgo...King Kong...that shark from Jaws.
Sure beats talkin' about roster mutiny and the franchise melting down and being sold to somebody in Kansas City
