Just drove 2 hours into the Yucatan. We're at a town that was founded by the Spanish in the 1600s, our hotel is in a building built in the 1600s that is right next to the town square. It's fucking amazing!
You are only like 45 minutes from Chichen Itza...... I'm sure you knew this, but just wanted to share FAMS.
So I'm in the small town of Valladolid, which is two hours away from Cancun. Without exaggerating the percentage of people wearing masks is easily over 90%. The group of people not wearing masks much are the American tourists. (We're wearing ours.) BTW, the internet here sucks, lol! But the first 24 hours in this adventure has been a blast. Tomorrow is El Balam! Major Mayan archeology site. Tried to upload pictures but the jungle internet did not like that. ' After Ek Balam and hopefully a cenote or two we haul balls to Playa Del Carmen and catch a ferry to Cozumel. Valladolid has a cenote in the middle of town that was amazing! The tourism industry is being limited to 30% capacity in the hotels so we had the cenote almost to ourselves. The biggest problem today was wandering around trying to find this one custom leather shop that is reknown. Finally, after dinner we found it! Didn't get to see the Blazer game but hopefully the internets are better at the coast.
