Pretty sure the next three games will give us a good idea as to the answer to this question. But, sure, arguing about this is major board fodder, so carry on.
I don’t get it, I fuckin hate Stotts but at this point in the season we may as well just enjoy the ride. We can deal with the issues in the offseason, nothing can be done about it now. I hope they go far.
You can’t blame Stotts when we lose if you’re not gonna credit him when we win. Either coaching matters or it doesn’t.
While I always try to enjoy the ride, at what point of the offseason do "we" gain control over the direction of the club? STOMP
Nope. We'll beat Utah and it'll be "Donovan Mitchell didn't play," we beat Suns and it'll be "Something is off with the Suns," and we beat Denver and it's "They didn't play Jokic and we almost lost to them (when we actually won by 15)." There are people here who don't give the team credit no matter what they do. NateB has in fact said that we don't have a win to hang our hat on. blazerkor said if we beat the Celtics, we were for real, but then he backed off that take.
For the record, the "enough is enough" thing was for real. That didn't make us contenders. It was just a turning point where the team stopped being pathetic and started to play their best but I hardly think or thought that their best would be good enough to make noise in the playoffs. Let's hope I'm wrong.
I just picked up red T shirts I had made for me and Chris that say "Enough is Enough" on them with a 0 on the back.
This is the first season in a while where I'm not really expecting or even hoping much that we get out of the first round. Portland is playing well, but when I look at the teams ahead of us I don't see any we can beat. The Clippers are a matchup nightmare for us, Jokic is having an MVP year in Denver, Utah's just got a damned well-constructed roster with loads of shooting, and TBH the back court of Chris Paul/Booker is better than Dame/CJ, just because the pieces fit so much better. Still, every day people risk all sorts of venereal diseases for the joy of a nice fling. It's a fling, but flings can be fun in their own right. We're on a nice run and we all should be happy about it. Don't get too attached, wear a condom and use a fake name and we'll all be fine.
It's not like those people dont have a case, even if you disagree with it. We havent beaten a top-10 team who wasn't missing an all-star in almost three months. We wont get that luxury in the playoffs.
How many times do you have to get kicked in the nuts before you decide to put on a cup for protection? That's how I look at this, yes I'm excited but at this point the Groundhog Day seasons have me putting on that cup around my heart for protection because I know how this is going to end.
I have a tendency to agree with this. Doesn't matter in the NBA when you start talking about winning a bunch of games in a row or even a large portion of games over a long period. A team has to be playing well to do that. Sure there are easier portions of schedule than others but the Blazers did this during a tough road trip and through some pretty good teams.
Bracing yourself for a letdown, while being excited by the current play, does not qualify you as the group I was referring to.
The team is playing much better and has players right now that were not playing three months ago? I also wonder how you know who will be playing in the playoffs?
