This is an illusion....you pass on your shot, somebody in Calcutta is getting it....they'll sell every good dose they can stockpile and as to satelites not going anywhere....one just fell in the ocean outside of India last week....and there are weapons graveyards all over the planet from failed attempts at making the bigger better one. That's where they end up..
You are quite the anti-capitalist! I take it you favor a completely nationalized healthcare system, where the government runs everything from drug discovery to medical suppies to pharmacies and doctors offices? Welcome, comrade! Or are you just randomly against pharma companies because they make vaccines and you don't like vaccines? barfo
Well, if there's a problem that is difficult to solve, we shouldn't bother solving other problems, even if they are relatively much easier. barfo
I had 3 families members and a childhood friend die within 2 weeks in January......PLEASE get your shot.
Excuse me if I call BS that you are not getting vaccinated so as to stick it to big Pharma. Riiiight.
This pandemic is a $20 trillion per year fire... Spending $15 billion to put it out is an INCREDIBLE bargain. A bargain we could never get without taxpayer funds. This is exactly what government is for. It's just too bad we didn't have a functioning government until this year.
The fact that it’s produced by corrupt swindlers is the smaller part of it. I’m mainly not taking it because it’s experimental and it’s for a disease I have a very low risk of succumbing to. If you are at high risk, get the shot. It’s really pretty simple. Herd immunity is for afflictions that affect the whole herd. This doesn’t. It affects 1%. If that one percent takes precautions in the form of a vaccine, like many do with the flu, they should be protected (assuming the vaccine is effective). And now that we know there are variants developing within less than a year, how effective will the vaccine be? Will there be a new one for each new strain? I won’t be receiving a vaccine every year for COVID, just like I don’t for the flu. Maybe when I’m older and more susceptible I will go get poked every year but right now I won’t.
20 trillion? Did you happen to look what was in those bills that got passed? Most of it wasn’t for COVID relief, despite the names of the bills and the moral posturing to go with it. Our two party government is a huge problem. It only cost as much as it did because of the politicians who used it as an excuse to loot the economy like a Sears on fire. Never let a crisis go to waste.
The US economy is $20 trillion. It has been on fire. $15 billion to stop that is a bargain. I don't care about the bills that were passed. They were just mitigation, and I agree that they weren't used to maximum benefit. But we all knew they wouldn't be. Long term changes to our political system are needed to resolve those kinds of problems, and that's not what this thread is about.
You seem to be offended by the idea of pharma companies making a profit. And... So... what's your dream healthcare system? barfo
Why didn't anyone else think of this? Just vaccinate the people who are going to get sick! it's genius! How do you determine that, exactly? Is it a blood test, or maybe a tarot card reading? barfo
If Sly gives me free Blazer game tickets I'm hardly being forced to go to the game but my taxes do pay for fixing the stop lights and pot holes on the way there...and I buy gasoline to drive there.....how do you justify buying gasoline with all this anti capitalistic rebellion? Bimart is giving free vaccinations right now...you aren't buying your shot and your dose isn't going to dent Wall St either. We pay for civil service with our taxes...senior disabled service...your taxes buy wheelchairs for people who can't walk....in this case helping them not die or get a serious lung condition. When our tax dollars protect the health of my family and friends.....they're doing what they should do....when they are fueling unnecessary arms races...not so much.
Curious how you feel about immigrants that come here should they be vaccinated and should their kids be required to for school admission? I say yes to both....
I think we have a global responsibility to help anyone get protection from the pandemic...nothing to do with nationalism.....I've been hospitalized overseas before and benefited from another health care system ...they didn't turn me away because of my passport. US citizens returning from overseas are as likely to carry a virus as immigrants....Taiwan had been virus free and recently opened up to travelers which brought the first 20 cases of covid to the island since the early days...(They locked down and only had 7 deaths total when it arrived at first) ...it was carried by an airline pilot and crew ....they're regretting opening up now but they quarantined the crew and back traced them....they are good at handling pandemics..hopefully they contained it again like the first wave.
Tbis is uncalled for and i reported this post to the mods, humane society m, fbi AND posted a link of your comment to every cat loving forum out there!!! @SlyPokerCat are you going to sit by and just take this abuse??
I wasn't referring to nationalism, to me its just common since to have kids be inoculated when going to school and that come here to reside. To me its just good management to have a system in place to to provide inoculations and vaccines to the multitudes. I just got done reading a book on the Whitman family and how a breakout of measles from pioneers traveling form the east decimated the indian kids and adults, thus taking revenge on the Whitman's. Anything we can do to prevent disease or pandemics is a plus. The world is a small place anymore and it can be a double edged sword with respect to people's health.
