I don't know Greyv, he's 'soft' and let's his teammates get 'pummeled', i think they should jettison him. Especially since he was wrong to get Covid and had a poor start to the season.
In fairness, I don't think that is exactly what Panz is saying. I think he is saying he doesn't want the Rangers to pay $10m+/yr for him. I get that, I think that is a price too high unless next year he joins guys like McDavid, Matthews, Draisaitl, McKinnon, Bergeron at the truly elite level.
Horvat is a very good idea. He's a great 2 way player and penalty killer, and always up there in faceoffs. Just checked the numbers, he hasnt been below 50% once his entire career. 53% or better each of the past 4 years. According to capgeek, has 2 years left at 5.5m per. He's not an elite offensive player, but has not exactly been playing on a powerhouse team. He can take some more of the defensive burden off Mika and still probably approach 70 points playing with Panarin. Would Vancouver want to move him? Petterson is the clear 1 there. They moved our old friend JT Miller to the middle this year and he had a very good year. Maybe they see value in moving Horvat for upgrades elsewhere rather than pushing him down to 3C. He does wear the C for them though, and that's always a question of whether a team will trade their captain barring something out of the ordinary. If it's not Horvat, we should be targeting someone similar to play 2C with Panarin and Kakko. I still like Lindholm from Calgary and to your point I wouldnt be opposed to taking Lucic along as part of that deal, with some retention by CGY.
I think this summer with zib signs an extension or they look to deal him. He’s not worth 10 mill a year to us but some other team might be willing to pay that. I hope we take a run if we didn’t already at Larkin from Detroit. There’s centers out there to be had and hopefully we can obtain one of them. Also would like to see them give krav a shot at center.
Larkin won't be dealt for the foreseeable future. Zibanejad will probably be extended at 6/$57 or something close to a $9.25 aav. He's not the most vocal guy, nor is CK, but his play on the ice does the talking and I'm sure behind closed doors those guys convey what they need to. There's alot to be said too for the experience and comraderie he has with his linemates, something which could take awhile to develop with a completely new C.
Detroit is a pathetic organization now. Yzerman has done a terrible job there. Personally, I think his drafts suck. He's making a lot of the same mistakes Gorton did. He's drafting tons of euro pussies. Especially on defense. Larkin is pissing his career away there. He should demand a trade. He will be old and the team will probably still suck. I've said it many times. If Yzerman had a clue he would be trying to raid the Rangers in a 4 or 5 for 1 deal for Larkin. They have nothing in goal over there. Since he's in love with Euro's, something like Chytil, Georgiev, Lundkvist, and Jones for Larkin. Something along those lines. He won't do it. Looking at his draft picks and their current roster, that team will suck for another 5 to 8 years.
Yeah, maybe he would for the right package but i think i read where they plan on keeping him. At 25 i guess they figure he's still young enough to grow with their prospects. Monahan as chuckles mentioned would be a great addition as well and Calgary could be open to it I'd think. Couple of 1sts and Lundkvist might be enough with a few other things thrown in.
I read Larkin is going nowhere, and is a big part of their future. To me it is kind of straight forward, Drury should call Calgary and get something done. Monahan or Lindholm. Add Lucic if they retain some of the cap hit. Rangers have plenty of pieces to give them. It is a match made in heaven I think. Especially if the Sabres prefer to deal Eichel to the Kings. Sounds like the Kings will make a big play for him, and I read the Sabres would prefer not to deal him to us if everything was close to equal. We are his desired location, and they are not inclined to satisfy that desire, and they would like to deal him West if close to equal.
Good, let damaged goods eichel go to LA. We have young tough kids coming so E as early as next year. Don’t really want to be saddled with Lucics contract
Are you on fucking drugs 71? I would not offer Lundkvist straight up for Monahan. He's done nothing since Gaudreau has half-assed it. Have you actually been paying to Monahan the past two years? He's sucked. Two years ago 48 points in 70 games. This year 28 points in 50 games and under 50% on draws. He couldn't get that package in return ever, unless a GM was drunk and on crack. That package might get you Eichel with Chytil attached. Lundkvist is a stud in the Fox mold. He should be ranked in the top 10 prospect wise. However, THN much like they did with Fox when they ranked him in the 30's has their head up their ass. Anti-NY hatred as always. Strome is a better center than Monahan at this point offensively. Only centers I would have interest in trading for are O'Reilly, Larkin or Horvat. I don't think the cap works with Eichel. His contract is ginormous. Detroit an Vancouver basically suck every year because they have no depth and lousy defenseman. St. Louis was good but they are basically headed to the sewer now. If their GM had any clue he would start the rebuild.
If Torts is our next coach we are fucked. He will constantly bench the rookies for “experienced” players and will stifle any and all offensive creativity. Torts is the exact OPPOSITE type of coach we need to bring in for this roster. The fact his name is even associated with this opening terrifies me frankly. If he is hired it’s because Dolan has interfered and wanted him here. And then we will be right back to a rebuild in about 5 years because Torts will destroy our youth and Dolan will trade it all away for overpriced vets who will underwhelm here.
Yeah. Don't want Torts here long term. However, if you told me they were going to hire Torts for one year, tell him that, teach the team how to play team defense and then hire Knoblauch next season I might do it. LOL.
Yeah you might be right dump on Monahan, i hadn't really checked his stats. I thought he was putting up 70-80 per year. He's not quite living up to his draft position after the first few years.
The one thing working against LA with getting Eichel is i don't think they give up Byfield, and after that i don't see them having the assets we do with their roster not being as far along. They need guys like Turcotte and Vilardi/Kempe to stay or it sort of defeats the purpose for them. They do have some other guys like Kaliyev and Kupari they could add but we'll see.
Hey 71 if you're cool with Wilson dribbling the vastly outmatched helmetless Breadman's head on the ice while your beloved Mika can't even be bothered to drop his stick - good for you, not my kind of player for $10 mil. I didn't realize coovid made Mika's dick drop off and morphed him into a huge pussy - I wasn't saying fight Wilson, just wrap him up, Mika's 6'2" for Christ's sake. I love his one timer when it's on and he has greatly improved defensively but not for $10+ mil which is what he and his agent will want minimum and they'll probably get easily. 100% agree Mika is an offensive stud but he's average defensively, below average physically and on face offs but should be easy to trade. I agree with moving Strome too, he's another nonfactor physically. if the Rangers are truly looking to be competitive with the other teams in their division they have addressed the goaltending and defense. Offensively several of the young players look promising but the glaring weakness is toughness. Barron looks like a worthy addition, I'd love to see Gettinger playing in Howden's spot.
Good luck finding a replacement for Mika's offense. I guess cup contention isn't a priority for you, Panzer.
PP, Zib was holding off Dillon with his back to the play when Panarin was knocked down. Was he then supposed to jump on a huge pile after that for effect? C'mon.
Zibanejad is not somebody I want to jumping in to defend a teammate with his history of concussions. That’s stupid
