We wouldn't know, we have to take Stotts' word for it and most of us don't put much stock in Stotts' word.

How did we beat Jokic/Plumlee in 2019 with Kanter/Collins then?

this moron brought kanter in AGAIN in the 2nd half and has the audacity to call the decision to bench him after "obvious."

if there's one positive in the last 2 games, it's that it'll speed up his departure.

Say the Knicks offer Quickley and 4 1s for Dame, would you consider it? Not saying I would just curious.

Jokic was nothing close to what he is now at that time. So comparing the two series is a bit ridiculous.

Posts like this make me thinking of the whole US model thing with the GMs. In Europe cosches decide what they want and GMs (if the team has one) will just compile a list for the coach to choose from.

What can we realistically get for CJ? Not talking an actual star, I’m talking Luke Kennard and Patrick Beverly type deals.

They were young back then and only were happy to taste the playoffs. That year was just getting their feet wet. That franchise and how they built that team is unbelievable

Yeah, it's my understanding that is how the Spurs have basically done things since Pops took over coaching.

I didn't realize that's how it works in Europe and it's an interesting concept. I would love to see the GM work for the coach instead of the other way around.

I think you severely underestimate the value of a bucket getter of CJ's talents. I think that we can get a second option that is a forward and fits this team better than him, if we make the right trade. I think the Knicks would give up a lot of value to have CJ and I think we could probably take what the Knicks would be willing to give up and maybe some other assets of ours and get the rebuilding Raptors to give up Siakam if that's what they're looking to do. I also think that Tobias Harris is always an option in a trade straight up for CJ.

I actually don't think anybody is beating that team if they stay healthy.

Depends who you ask. Those who say CJ is basically an all-star level player should except we could get an all-star level player in their prime in return (Jamal Murray, Lavine, Jalen Brown, Middleton)

Those like you (and I) who do not think he's an all-star, see him as an overpaid starter. Which means, you'd get something similar in return (Aaron Gordon, Love, Wiggins) or a couple value 5th/6th man type players.

Exactly what I’m saying. So at the very least we can take solace that we weren’t going to do shit next series. PLUS this series we in now definitely puts the final nail in for Stotts to be fired

    I’m trying to be optimistic

If your theory is right I would be excited and upset at the same time. If CJ has high value, we're crazy for having not traded him, but I'd be pump that we still have a chance to get something of value in return.

CJ is a bucket getter, and I fully expect a great game 4 from him. However, if you're an inconsistent bucket getter and a consistent bucket giver-upper, you can't take up 30% of the salary cap.

See, I would be happy with Wiggins or Gordon for him if we were able to also re-sign Norm and let him play at his natural position.

I do think that it might be smart to start realizing that different GMs may see things your way and a small group might see things the way of the others you were talking about do. So maybe there will be an opportunity to trade CJ to a team that has high value for him and flip what we get from them in a three team deal for a real second option. Who knows though. None of us have ever had the opportunity to gauge his trade value and I don't think our front office has ever really delved too deeply into it either.
