I lost one eye in the war and the other eye has problems. Thank God for spell check 'cause otherwise I'd have like a million typos.
spell check gives me more problems than it solves more often than not...sorry about your eye loss Lanny, didn't know that and now my joke seems pretty dumb...although I do get that a lot!
Don't feel bad. I can tell the remarks that are intended as rude comments and those that aren't. Yours clearly was unintended and meant purely in good humor. Actually, my eyesight wasn't lost at the time of combat it was later when it was beginning to fail and they tried some corrective surgery which the VA botched and left me virtually blind in one eye. I can see out that eye such that if I relied on it alone I could barely negotiate my house without bumping into my furniture too often. I'd still have trouble, though. The other eye has some slight related problems and other problems due to old age that makes it adequate enough to drive but difficult to read and impossible to read fine print. Reading my computer monitor is difficult 'cause everything is fuzzy until I lean forward and squint, even with my glasses. I can't read anything with my contacts in but distance is good, of course, that's with my one good eye.
https://ktvl.com/news/local/protester-creates-disruption-in-klamath-falls-community I see this guy every time I drive by that area
This is an example of why I wouldn't want to live there, although I'm sure most people there are decent. I just think there are a large number of problematic people there.
https://www.heraldandnews.com/news/...cle_986849c2-4bfd-57a0-88ef-cff93b2567fb.html Everyone knows about him and I haven't heard of anyone saying they agree with him at least. I've also heard the guy is a vet that has ptsd and hasn't been able to get any help.
I would simply ignore him. To respond is to invite violence. The prayer suggestion seems like a good idea to me just so long as it's done in private and not in his face.
I've heard he's gotten jumped and beaten up before, but I'm not positive about it. I just ignore him. I've seen him get flipped off by Mexicans though, I don't blame them.
I do all the time. Nothing ever happens to me. Downtown is safe. Klamath County is unsafe for me and already doesn't want me there. I've driven through it but will never stop.
Oh, I don't feel unsafe, it is just high density dereliction if that is what you seek. 50 years ago, I had a territory down there, my daily business. Now it looks nothing like the city used to look. I got off the bus at 6th and Salmon and hoofed it down the street to the Train station to get on to Eugene. My first companion on the hike, I picked up at about Morrison, a skinny black chick. Much longer legs than mine, she could really stroll, caught up with me and said, Your ready for me? Naw, I need to catch the train. So she lite out ahead of me, hollering at each on looker as we passed by, he's following me! Ha! Maybe a block short of Burnside, she does this trick again, and old black guy looks at me, flowing white hair still moving the feet, and says, girl, that old white man ain't following you! Even when you're trotting in front. She gave it up. Then we got to camping area, shooting up and passing out. Then past the old bus station, smells like shit around there. Finally to the train station. If you are not flying, it's the only way out of town. Wonderful City, the one when America was great, needs cleaned up today.
I'll say something nice about KFalls, they have a pretty nice Mexican community and underrated Mexican food.
A disabled veteran quietly holding a sign expressing his personal opinions on current issues in a public forum. Sounds like America to me. The Fake News article drummed up by a violence-stoking Pussyhat antifa clown from Cottage Grove who has been stalking and harassing the peaceful protester failed to support their contention of a disruption, or even disagreement from any Klamath Falls residents. Residents said the man has been standing at the intersection of Austin St. and Sixth St. on and off for a few months now, protesting a number of political issues from race to gender. “The folks that have to tolerate these people, on what I think is a daily basis, they’re aggravated," counter-protester Duane Taddei said. Taddei, who is from Cottage Grove, but conducts business in Klamath Falls, said he plans to protest against this man’s message anytime he is back in the area. “My fear is that it’s not going to peaceful for a long time," Taddei said. "He’s changing his message to aggravate different kinds of folks, this time women and last time race mixers.”
https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/water-and-drought/article251710398.html Things are still going wonderfully here
I worked with a guy at Tektronix who graduated from OIT in Klamath Falls. He told me horror stories about the violence down there. One day he was in a night club when some guy came in with a hunting rifle and proceeded with shooting people. He killed several and my friend had to testify at the murder trial. He also told me how the local Indians would put up barricades in the roads charging a usage fee at gun point. Even the police didn't intervene because they would be in terrible danger. I've known other people from K-Falls who told similar stories. I wouldn't want to live there, myself.
