Werth drives in four as Phillies top Cubs

PHILADELPHIA 10, CHICAGO CUBS 6
CHICAGO (Ticker) -- It wasn't the debut Kyle Lohse was hopingfor, but his new teammates won anyway.

Jason Werth drove in four runs and Pat Burrell went 3-for-4 witha solo home run as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated theChicago Cubs, 10-6, on Thursday to salvage a split in thefour-game series.

Acquired from the Cincinnati Reds just prior to Tuesday's tradedeadline, Lohse left his Phillies debut after being hit by aline drive off the bat of Jacque Jones in the first inning.Diagnosed with a right forearm contusion, Lohse was removed inthe second inning after allowing one run and two hits in his oneinning before departing.

With their starter sidelined, Philadelphia's lineup gavereplacement J.D. Durbin (4-2) a comfortable cushion, though therighthander and the Phillies bullpen nearly gave it all back.
