Most people are idiots. Clearly most people weren't looking at the records or the advanced stats, that easily favored the Nuggets. I wanted to be wrong, but I looked at both those and picked Nuggets in 6 before the series started. And I'm not exactly a genius - it was just obvious.
Nobody is saying you don't cut Olshey. But we've passed on Paul George, Jimmy Butler, James Harden and various others over and over to hold on the CJ. Thing is, there was clearly trades that were available if they were pursued. Just look at what the reports were at the time, then look at what those guys ended up getting traded for. This offseason, I don't see that guy available at the moment, but you never know. I don't even think you need to replace him with someone better. Just change the makeup/framework of the team and see what happens.
It is funny, though. Everyone thought all the first round series in the West would be upsets - except maybe Clippers-Mavs. Now that's looking like the only upset. The team we tried so hard to avoid...
1. I'm sick of hearing things like this quoted as gospel. Give me cast iron proof of ANY of those and I'll tell you... 2. ...that Olshey is the one and only cause of all of our problems. But I bet you if we were offered ANY of those players, the team asked for Dame.
I'm not going to argue this point. Of course there's no explicit proof because those deals never happened and no one is going to say otherwise. Just read the tea leaves and look at the trades that actually happened. If you don't agree fine, I disagree with you.
NO...I absolutely don't think he's been trying because I don't think he ever makes serious offers....mainly because he has believed CJ is already the 2nd star
c'mon...it was widely reported that Olshey offered the three 2017 firsts for PG13 and the Pacer's choice of any combo of Blazers EXCEPT, Dame, CJ, and Nurkic. Olshey even confirmed it when he said something to the effect of "why would I trade CJ for PG....I want CJ to play with PG" in a press conference...I saw it if he wasn't willing to include CJ for PG13, what makes anyone think he'd turn around and offer CJ for Butler, Kawhi, or Harden?
Also, just look at the fucking deals that went down. Butler was traded for Covington and Saric and NO PICKS, to a Philly front office that was (at the time) absolutely batshit stupid and inexperienced. Harden went for Oladipo and picks. It was widely reported that Houston wanted an actual player, so they chose the shitty deal with Oladipo (which ended up being an AWFUL deal). We definitely could have matched that if we pushed hard enough.
Cappazzo and Rivers had it easy. Two vet minimum guys, one being a waiver wire guy, played huge roles in this series. All while CJ was scoring 21 pts on 21 shots with some of the worst defensive I’ve ever seen.
Lol very true. @Natebishop3 and me been saying this all year. Blazers have sucked since the start. It’s not a good team at all
