If Dame has "major input", you can bet that Vanderpool will be his first choice. Hopefully he wouldn't run anything similar to Stotts offense. A big plus would be getting rid of CJ, signing Powell and teaching Dame better defense. Upgrade the personnel and hire a strong defensive assistant coach. If not Vanderpool, I'd love to see Ime here. He has been learning from Pop for several years plus his calling card was defense when he played.

There was a time where I wanted Becky Hammon as a serious candidate. Then this whole board has the sentiment Becky Hammon or bust.

Now I don’t want her. It’s the coach of an NBA team. Not some kind of statement gig.

I couldn't agree more. However, it was clear Stotts lost the confidence of the players, therefore it was time.

However, Olshey bears the brunt of the blame. How you can not get a legit 4--even with a healthy Zach--is inexcusable. We constantly put guys like Covington, Jones and Melo in impossible situations because Olshey couldn't get a freaking power forward.

Hiring Hammond is more for Basketball history.

I suspect dame will have input on the guys Olshey (or whoever) picks as finalists, and I doubt vanterpool will be on that list.

Imagine how stupid you must be to want to be the talk of the NBA because of someone you hired, not how much you won.

This whole board has never had a Hammon or bust sentiment.

Don't worry. Once a bitch always a bitch. I mean they might be able to find something else to protest.

I honestly don't know much about vanterpool as a coach. I'd feel more comfortable with Billups personally, but like I said, this is about pleasing Dame and nothing more. Keeping him here is essentially keeping the franchise in Portland.

He wants out, the franchise is fucked. It will be for sale and then moved. That's how important Dame is, and how we can't fuck this hire and off-season up with social justice experiments.

Everyone is so big on the next coach is but my eye sight is who is hire as assistant coaches. There the ones actually put the work to develop the players and input what the coach wants. Yes the head must be knowledgeable so he can make adjustments during games but good assistant actually can put you over the hump

I’m concerned that Neil will still keep his guys expecting a new coach to get more out of them. CJ must go, more STAR power is needed.

Also someone mentioned Jody selling the team, is that a potential thing? If not why would Neil get a free pass because he’s familiar with the franchise? His roster is broken, needs a complete overhaul.

I believe they probably have olshey to assemble a good team by next year or he will be gone next year. So might interesting off season. Look to see olshey putting CJ out there to see what can get. Nurk also might be in that same bucket but with a new coach they might have took care Nurk problem.

I would love Becky, but she should go to adult team.
After Stotts work on those kids they need some smart but hard hand.
No way she could coach CJ here.

Who does Chauncey have relationships with? Which players has he been mentoring/working out in the summer? Anyone?
