why would dame want jason kidd if he wants to win with portland, it makes no sense (literally nothing in his coaching career suggest he is a good option)

but if he wants someone hell be good friend with, like he was with terry stotts, then i can understand it

like Nate wrote it, in this Coaching decision we need to do what's best for the franchise, and that is to hire Billups. Dame can claim that he wants Kidd as much as he wants, he's not a good a Coach. Sure there is a risk with Billups due to his lack of experience, but there is always a risk. Kerr was not experienced, Nurse was not experienced, Vogel was not experienced when he came to Indiana during the Big 3 time in Miami. Experience is important but not THE most Important thing. I'm sorry Dame, let the Blazers hire Billups and stay away from Kidd

I think people are just overthinking this Kidd thing because of Haynes cherry picking Dames words to make it seem like some sort of ultimatum (he’s always been a terrible writer. He’s where he’s at because of the connections he’s made.) In reality Dame said he likes Billups as well, so I don’t know why he wouldn’t be on board with that hire.

I don’t think Dame is the type to become pouty if Blazers chose someone that wasn’t his first pick. But I think there’s probably less leeway for him demanding a trade if the first season ends up going bad some how.

I think it’s okay to have a coach that is considered a “player coach”. However something that stotts seem to never do was motivate his team. He was never the guy that fired up the team. That is something Steve Kerr is pretty good at. If we got a “players coach” who can fire up his team to play to their potential, he’s already better than stotts in my book

Steve Clifford now available. Great defensive mind. Has taken minimal talent to the playoffs with two different teams.

so maybe this isn’t as close to the finish line as Shams/Quick made it sound.

Who else thinks that Neil's top candidate is someone not mentioned by Woj and this has been a smokescreen so far?

We didn't know about Powell, Covington, DJJ, and many other trades/signings so why now all the sudden the leaks?

I agree. I think it's either Billups or D'Antoni. Which both are coaching in the playoffs. What about Sam Cassell though? Someone not mention in a tweet related to the Blazers coaching list.

The way olshey works is a none of these coaches that been mentioned will the head coach. Right the coach has interview is Allen from Boston and more likely there will be more.

I just don't like to put any stake into what Jason Quick says? In my opinion (And yes it's just an opinion) Shams just piggy backs off what Quick says.

Fingers crossed. I'd be okay with Becky Hammon. But other than that Spoelstra is the only thing I've liked, and that's really unlikely.

Everything else has been incredibly underwhelming.

I think Neil’s top choice is Billups, but he probably thinks he needs a plug and play head coach like JVG because Dame is getting older
