You know Dallas has to make moves so that is the best trading partner in terms of willingness. You would have to consider CJ for Porzingis even if he is not a perfect player with injuries etc. Brunson would be a killer backup PG.
If CJ's value is really flatline, I think a sell-low move would be something like this. CJ to NYK DJJ to CLE K-Love and Nance Jr. to PDX NY would hopefully throw a pick to CLE/us as well. I think we could get some use out of Love and this would make our starting unit defense very nice. Lillard/Powell/Covington/Nance/Nurkic
I don't have any trades in mind per se, just a vague idea of what I want the roster/ rotation to look like next season. Dame, Norm, RoCo, Ant and Nas are the only players I have any particular desire to keep. Everyone else is expendable. As to the rotation, to those 5 players I'd want to add: A legit backup PG who's capable of actually running an offense when Dame sits; A 2-way starting forward to be the #2 offensive option; A mobile big who can rebound and can defend on the perimeter A tough backup bruiser, junkyard-dog; A bench wing sharpshooter I have no idea who these players should be, or how we would acquire them, nor do I have any idea if anyone on our roster outside of the 5 I listed can fill any of those roles. Maybe Zach can be that mobile big; maybe Elleby is that sharpshooter. If anyone does have ideas, I'm all ears.
CJ for Simmons would be the most intriguing option in my opinion. Whatever the package is. Simmons Siakam Middleton Pipe dream: Giannis demands a trade to Portland.
One thing that I just realized is that we have MAX cap space next year. (Only Dame/CJ/Nassir on the books) I mean, sure, Portland has never signed a major free agent before, but it's a possibility if Dame does some hardcore recruiting. Here is the current FA class: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/2022/ If certain factors break right these could be guys coming off their contracts that year: Steph Curry Jimmy Butler Kawhi Leonard James Harden Kevin Durant Bradley Beal I mean, KD really loves Dame... Of course it's never going to happen, but they may try to pursue this route in the summer of 22 before deciding whether or not to trade Dame.
You can as long he doesn't sign a offer sheet. But I don't think he can be with other players though.
During our series I almost believed fouling out cannot be avoided against Jokic... Ayton 20/10 with 1 foul
that would be for the 2022-23 season and it may not be as much space as you believe start with the assumption the salary cap is 115M. Probably a safe assumption then you have the 'certain' guarantees: Damian Lillard $47,250,000 CJ McCollum $33,333,333 Nassir Little $4,171,548 Andrew Nicholson $2,844,429 that's about 87.6M but it's only 3 players, so there would be 9 roster charges at about a million each. Call it 96M in guarantees and charges. That leaves 19M in cap-space now, let's say the Blazers have a 1st round pick. Assume something like the 22nd pick. That would approach 3M in salary, leaving 16M in cap-space then, the biggies, which are the cap-holds for Portland's free agents: Anfernee Simons $11,816,454 Robert Covington $19,463,207 Norman Powell $17,422,992 Derrick Jones $12,637,170 Jusuf Nurkic $18,000,000 CJ Elleby $1,919,247 any one of those guys could wipe out the balance of space, or at least make it so small as to be irrelevant so no....sure doesn't look like much of a shot at cap-space. But there could be a lot of changes between now and then. Still, whenever you start doing this kind of calculation, the monkey wrench is always CJ's contract...IMO note: BB Insiders says Dame's salary is about 5M less than BBREF. So there could be a little more margin, Still, those cap-holds are pretty daunting
Love the CJ-->NY, youth/picks-->TOR, Pascal-->POR idea. Don't really see it happening, but love it. If TOR did commit to a youth-based rebuild, I'd say sell the farm to get Boucher as well. (He is 28, you know; clearly too old for a rebuild) Seen DFS mentioned as a bench wing. I think he'd fit a whole lot better than DJJ ever did. Don't know how available Brandon Clarke might be, but it seems his role/production dipped a bit last year. I'd love him here; no idea what it'd take to get him.
Stolen from a non-blazers fan on realgm, Pacers trade: LeVert/Lamb Pacers get: CJ Blazers trade: CJ/DJJ/23 1st (lotto, top 10, top 7, 2 2nds) Blazers get: LeVert/Barnes Kings trade: Barnes Kings get: DJJ/Lamb/23 POR 1st
The assumption is Dame + CJ + Max guy + minimum deals and rookies filling out the roster. Drop Nurk, drop RoCo, drop Ant etc etc. Yeah, not likely, but a possibility. And if they were able to drop CJ (somehow), it would open up room to balance the roster.
