...interesting Nurk is commenting on random Twitter threads. Makes me wonder how far down the rabbit hole he's already gone mentally. Maybe he can catch Nurk fever again while he's at it!
I’ve known Jason Hassler for years. Kinda cool to see his tweets are getting retweeted in these parts.
Of course he makes the team better, but this is not enough. He needs to play more minutes and he cannot really do it with his silly foul proneness. And he is also injury prone as well... Ayton has 4 total fouls in 3 games against Jokic. Nurkic averaged 5 per game. This not only takes away minutes so he played only 29 per game but it also means some of those 29 minutes he cannot play as well as he can because he is trying to avoid fouls.
Ayton also has a team surrounding him that plays defense. Nurk didn’t. Not saying that is the sole reason but surely a contributing factor.
I don't think he has ever been big man coach for Houston. He ran a free big man camp for a while and has also worked with guys individually from any team. Not sure if he is still doing that. Sounds as if he doesn't want to be tied down to a regular job.
he was in los angeles these days, i dont know if he engaged his girlfriend in the los angeles too nurk to lakers confirmed
Hopefully it doesn't have the effect like it does to PGA tour pros... their game always seems to turn to shit after an engagement/marriage.
...haaaa, was thinking the same thing! Spieth and Fowler most well-known recent ones. I'm nearly 3yrs in too...I can only imagine having to try and lock-in for 4 rounds in 4 days -- I'm lucky if it happens once a year nowadays!
Team would be stupid not to guarantee his contract for next year which I believe is at 11-12 mil, worst case is he has good value in a trade if we don't want to keep him
there is no doubt Portland will guarantee. It's a bargain contract, even with accounting for the injury history. If Portland gets 70+ games from Nurk, he'll be the 2nd best player on the team. He probably was that this year and yeah, that's assuming there won't be a blockbuster trade....which seems a safe assumption with the same front office
Add Dustin Johnson to that list too... although his might have been the nose candy in addition to marrying
I had said "engaged" as well in my original post - that's what I was referring to. Look up what DJ went through and his subsequent departure from golf when he first started dating Gretzky. We're talking 6-7 years ago I think.
Nurk has clear value on both ends so I expect to bring him back. If there is a Towns type of trade then send him out, but anything less than an allstar in return I expect to see Nurk as a Blazer next season. If he leaves in free agency next summer then so be it, that is always a risk. I hope Nurk doesn't bitch publicly about his role and other frustrations as he did last season, he has plenty of areas to focus on his own improvement than other peoples jobs in the organization.
one area he really needs to improve: he throws up way too much weak shit around the rim. He should not have the same conversion rate at the rim as CJ
