That's intriguing; does Indiana want to do it? Basically we are giving up Roco, CJ and two first round picks for Brown. That's a lot but I think I'm OK with that. Is 35 year old Horford worth another first round pick?

we don’t win game 1 without Melo’s contribution! Kanter was way off against Denver

SA signs DeRozan and trades to PDX for CJ

GS Signs Green and trades to Portland for RoCo and Giles.

then the other players noted can be swapped in separate deals - winding up with my proposed players ending up in their new uniforms

Best we’ll see out of CJ

there may be an overall improvement in CJ's efficiency if the new coach forces CJ to stop going one-on-one so much and significantly ramps up CJ's catch-&-shoot and spot-up opportunities while dramatically cutting his iso and dribbling. I can't see a new coach changing CJ's stripes though. CJ has averaged a high volume of shots from one-on-one (and one-on-three) for 12 years....that includes 4 years at Lehigh. He's also not going to increase his FT rate

the real problem is what standard is used to set the value of a 'good return' for CJ, and how much the Blazers would have to add. Expecting an all-star back is loopy...won't happen. But in this forum, as long as people keep talking about CJ's all-star talent (in the East!!), it's going to be difficult to discuss realistic trade ideas.

and, as mentioned, any CJ trade idea needs to leverage the possibility of Powell stepping into the starting SG role. I guess that could be similar to trading Zach Randolph in order to open up the PF role for Aldridge. Or the Warriors trading Monta Ellis to open the spot for Klay. In other words, there could be more benefits to the trade than just what's coming back

I don't believe for a second a new coach is going to be able to scheme this Dame/CJ team into a contender. And as long as CJ is there, hogging an all-star's level of shots and usage, and also hogging an all-star's level of the salary cap, there's no room, or means, to add the singular talent that would make for a contender and not waste what's left of Dame's prime

The Lakers are a team that could definitely use CJ. I just don't like anything on their team at all. If you could route KCP's expiring elsewhere for good value, and throw in Kuzma and their pick this year. Route the pick and kcp, pick and kuzma. All 3 to different places?

I dont like it, without the mess of having to move those assets for other assets, for sure. Just mainly trying to think of another team that would want CJ, outside of the usual harris, siakam, deals often brought up here.

He’d be a nice signing. Can play multiple positions, spreads the court and isn’t a great defender, but not a liability either.

Sorry, but Kanter a averaged 11.2 points and 10 rebounds

AND stepped in for 40+ games as Nurk was out.

Olynyk 13.5 points and 7 rebounds.

since we had no other beast rebounding, I’d take Kanter’s boards and shooting percentage

Would be nice not spending so much money on CJ - let’s not forget that if we get rid of him, we are getting rid of a bad contract imho.

    Porzingis perhaps? Straight up.
Randle (NY) for CJ and DJJ?
    ?

    juat move CJ!

Dallas would froth at the mouth. Not a good trade for Portland though

    NYK would never do that

Rashaun Holmes could be a decent signing for role player. Made 11 last year same as Kanter. Holmes is 27 6'10" good rebounder and rim runner, get 1 block per game.
He'd be better than Kanter or Collins next year.

Colin Cowherd today was talking about how Doncic needs someone who can shoot the ball as a sidekick and someone who can help relieve him of always having to have the ball in his hands when he is in.....and no option to run things when he is out.

Sounds like CJ to me. Just need back more than just KP and his huge contract with injury concerns.
