It’s probably going to be a hire that hasn’t even been mentioned by anyone. That seems to be how Neil rolls sometimes
As expected, the interview went well. Was told there were a lot of questions regarding defense. Blamed it on players, tried to sell how great the offense could be with Dame and CJ I did not hear this directly from someone in the room, so………
I'm not try to annoy anyone, but some of you act like you don't know how the world works. Administrators (and basically anyone over 40) do whatever they want. They PRETEND to be interested in process and consensus, but they only do that to make others feel better - I've seen it over and over again... city council, presidents of universities, high school principals, hospital administrators... and Neil Olshey has more confidence in himself than any of them! It is VERY likely that he chose who he wanted for coach WEEKS AGO. If you're being interviewed, it Does Not mean you have an equal chance. The purpose of the interviews is to... Make fans feel heard. Cover his ass. Discover any Red Flags. When he says that he's going to ask interviewees hard and specific questions about how the defense will be improved, he's basically lying. Yes, he will ask the questions, but the answers won't be a factor in the decision (unless they reveal a red flag). I wouldn't mind Billups, Hammon, or MDA. But, it's coming to a point where I'd be very surprised if it wasn't Billups.
Probably not. Neil will just say that the candidate he wants is much better than the other 2 names he'll bring her. He'll tell her that we are SO lucky to have person X available right now,... "Sure, you can have one of the other candidates.... if you want." That's the thing with administrators, it's factual that Jody will have the final say, but he'll make her feel dumb if she doesn't choose who he wants, so it's not truth.
a good owner would leave that decision with the president of basketball operations anyway. Doubt she’s spending much of her time scouting coaches lmao.
