I'd say yes because its unlikely the Blazers compete for a title so better to give him a memory of an elite performance that matters for something.
The gold medal game is scheduled for August 7th. Training camp doesn’t open until October 19th. I think Dame will have enough time to rest up.
If Dame fights Godzilla then the Blazers had best be searching out good recipes for lizard barbecue to serve up at the post-Olympics victory party.
I don't like it. I wish he had been able to do it when he was younger. The dude gets so worn out and beat up by the end of the season every year. This would just add that much more wear and tear on him before the season even starts.
Not sure how long he could stay in the game. If Jokic gets tossed for that little love tap he gave Payne, imagine what happens when the guy's head is rolling across the court. Probably a flagrant 2.
International basketball is a silly game, played by silly rules, on a silly court, with a silly ball. Absolute farce. Not worth the wear and tear.
Apparently, it's worth it to Dame. Whether it's patriotism, legacy, or the financial rewards that go along with all of that, it means enough to him to be worth the effort and the time. Ultimately, that's all that matters. Besides, the way he trains in the off-season, I'm not so sure that a few weeks sashaying through an Olympics tournament doesn't amount to a rest.
I think it matters to him to get a gold medal. If a long playoff/finals run is not in the works, this is his shot to win big.
Dame has always shown a desire to play for Team USA. Now he's at a point in his career when that's going to work out. Winning a gold medal on a big stage would be great. Doesn't hurt his brand any, either.
You don’t like ANYTHING! You could win the lottery and bitch about paying the taxes…..you could have somebody throw you a life preserver while drowning and you’d complain about the color of it.
