We have threads about trade ideas and threads about what kind of things tge Blazers need to do to get better. But, what is your best plan for the Blazers going into the season? Be the GM. What exactly would you do? You get one chance to make this team better.

Try to be realistic. Alot of us would love KAT, Siakam, Butler, etc but that isn't going to happen.

    How are you signing DeRozan?

for "best plan" absolutely must start as the owner because the first move is firing the GM

I think Olshey will fuck this off-season up as bad as any

Trade CJ + Top 25 Protected 1st for either Middleton or Harris (whichever team accepts the deal first). Protection on the pick goes top 25/top 25/2 seconds.

    Trade DJJ for Tyus Jones.

Extend RoCo for 2 years/25 million.

Sign Collins for 3 years/21 million.

    Re-sign Powell 4 years/80 million

Sign Batum 2 years/10 million with the Taxpayers MLE

    Dame/Jones
    Powell/Simons
    Harris or Middleton/Little
    RoCo/Batum
    Nurk/Collins

End of bench guys don't matter (as long as they aren't Melo/Kanter).

That's about 148-150M in salary. 4 minimum salary guys pushes it to ~155M in total salary, which would give us one of the 3 highest payrolls in the league. If we fail this year, then the next year will probably be a blow up/take down.

He's a free agent. You sign him, then resign Powell and go into luxury

If I'm the GM the first thing I would do is give myself a big big raise.

DeRozan will most likely make more than the MLE (and certainly more than the Tax MLE).... which makes this an impossibility.

That's not how it works. If you want to keep Powell's bird rights you can't renounce him, which makes his cap hold almost 20 million.

Could SA & Port resign both CJ & DeRozen the trade, they have exact salaries. Then re-sign Powell.

I wouldn't want to pay DeRozan that much money. The guy isn't worth it anymore.

The team receiving a FA in a S&T gets hard-capped. The hard cap would be ~$6 or $7M above the lux tax line.
That may be a possibility, but I'm guessing Portland would be pushing right up against that hard-cap line.

A sign and trade would work only if DeRozan signs for a good deal less than CJ. We can't make a trade that puts us over the tax right?

I'd rather trade CJ for Grant anyway. Forget DeRozan

I would love to get Grant.... but I don't see why Detroit would do it.

CJ is going to be 30 in a few months.

Grant just turned 27. They're a young team and really not that close to contending. I just don't see why they would want to do it.

I think it might be possible to get Turner and Porzingis. Both have issues but they compliment each other as they seem to want to play opposite positions on opposite ends of the floor. KP likes to play offensive center and Turner can spread the floor as a stretch '4'. Turner prefers to play defensive center while KP would prefer to guard PFs.

    Turner
    Porzingis
    Covington
    Powell
    Dame

That is a LOT more length, better shooting and better defense even though KP will have some issues with smaller/quicker PFs.

That leaves Collins/Little/Ant (don't want anyone else back or gone in a trade). Get another big, a backup PG for the love of God, and any wing with length. Would take one of Kanter/Giles/RHJ as at 10+ player. No Melo.

Do you think Pistons would really include grant for CJ?

I'd start by gathering all the blackmail I could find on every other GM, president, and owner.

I would imagine Microsoft has plenty of info on most of us and Jody knows a guy...
