I am coming around to the idea of him coaching here. I am sure he would set up the offense that fit best for dame. Of course there is issues with defense, but if Neil ain’t planning on trading CJ then I don’t see us improving much there
This idea that Hammon can't be fired even if she is awful seems predicated on the conviction she will fail but team can't fire a woman because she might cry or something. Bull. There are no secrets in the NBA. Everyone knows when a team underachieved, when the coach has lost the team, or when a coach is on the hot seat despite being liked by team (Stotts). People who have worked with Hammon say she is ready now and will succeed. If she fails the world will know. She should be hired. Qualified, respected, no baggage.
I liked Bud coming from what he did in Atlanta, but watching that Game #5 loss to the Nets brought up a TON of questions and if I were a Bucks fan, I'd be pissed at his game plan. Where was the defensive help or double teams on Durant? Why did they not run play after play right at Harden who was obviously hampered (1-10) but still logged 46 minutes? After the first couple of makes, how do you not take away the '3' from Jeff Green who can not create that shot on his own? Very poor in-game adjustments that are very remeniscint of Stotts.
I don't think I've ever seen a coach crucified in the media so badly and so immediately over the mismanagement of a game like Bud did in this one. And it's absolutely deservedly so.
One other point in D'Antoni's favor--the dude was literally at least a decade ahead of everybody else with the Suns offense. I mean he was running Shawn Marion at PF and a young Amare at center back when other teams were regularly throwing out there guys who had 20-40lbs and 3-4 inches on both of them. And he was winning with it at an elite level. I want a coach who's playing one step ahead of everyone else. If there's some new innovation in game style in the coming years, I expect D'Antoni will be very quick to realize and adopt it.
Think about it, close ties to Seattle, assist gm for Spurs, could move upstairs eventually, I’m sure hes been talked about in circles for bringing sonics back and Koldie would be aware of that, seems to have a good rep around league.
It’s an issue and we should’ve progressed past it as a society, but we haven’t, so pretending she’s gonna be treated the same is just naive. That doesn’t mean I agree with it, or that I don’t think she should get the job. But if she does, we should be prepared to be stuck with her past her expiration date if she fails. And after being stuck with Stotts long past his, I’m not sure I’m down for the extended cut.
Rehashing Neil's description of the process: - 20-25 candidates filtered down after touching base w/ Jody - Initial interviews with a more manageable number of candidates "which I will conduct." Narrow scope before it reaches Jody. - Final interviews involving owner and solicitation from Dame, and any other insight they can gather around the league. Eventual decision: "will be made by our group and our organization led by Jody Allen." i wonder if we hear of any other candidates having initial interviews
oh boy, now the New Orleans job is available, as I was predicting. That one might be more appealing than some of these others.
